Nfu Oh 558

Hi all,

How are you all doing? Have you done all your Christmas shopping yet? I still have some presents to get my family so I guess I'll have to go shopping later this week. I could think of things less fun ;)

Today I have Nfu Oh 558 for you. I didn't know this was a jelly/jellylike creme until I put it on.. Ah well. Here she is!

nfu oh 558 blue jelly nail polish nailswatchesNfu Oh 558, three coats in daylight. It's a little darker than my pic shows it, but just a tad. 558 is a blue jelly. I'm not really fond of jellies to be honest, so it was a bit of a disappointment when I found out the finish on this one lol. I thought it was a creme!

I always have application problems with jellies somehow.. It might be just me but it's all runny and floods my cuticles *cue sigh*. The color is beautiful though. I wish I could find a blue exactly this color, but with a creme finish. Hey, I just thought of a new mission hehe!

Good luck to those of you that haven't done your Christmas shopping!

Barielle Konad Overload

Hi all,

While I was browsing through my nail folder, I found this overload of stamping with Barielle colors. I like the purple and the green together, but I think the blue blew it all overboard whehehe.

barielle grape escape berry blue sweet addiction m60 m57 stamping konad nail polish nailswatchesBarielle Grape Escape as a base, stamped with Sweet Addiction, Berry Blue and imageplates M57 and M60. Not my favorite konadicure to say the least, but it was fun to do.

I wish you all a very nice weekend :)

I will be working on the giveaway winner tomorrow - I'll ask my sister to pick a winner from all of the entries after I'm done checking and sorting them :)

To Top It All Off..

Hi all,

Today I have some different 'toppers' for you that I played a bit with a while ago.. I hope it may be helpful to (some of) you :)

From left to right: CND Jade Sparkle, CND Copper Shimmer, CND Teal Sparkle and Catrice Matt Topcoat over Catrice Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans!. I played a little to see how it would work out and this was the result! I actually like all of them over this pretty blue..

I really want to get a ton more of the CND Effects, I love them all! They just turn your polish into something even prettier, it's awesome. Maybe I'll give myself some Effects for Christmas... ;)

Stampabilities is a little late this week, but I'll make sure I'll have it up on Wednesday!

Recent NOTD: China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic

Hi all,

How are you doing on this fine but cold Wednesday? It seems like everything is evening out a bit here, I finally took care of my entire room so it looks more like I want it to be :)

china glaze rodeo diva 2008 collection rodeo fanatic nail polish nailswatchesChina Glaze Rodeo Fanatic, three coats in daylight. I wore Rodeo Fanatic earlier but I thought I'd show it again :) This one never gets boring. The color and the finish are gorgeous and it's one of my favorite China Glaze polishes.

Edit: The network connector thing on my laptop appears to have died, which means that I can't access the internet on my laptop. I hope I (or rather: my dad) can fix it, but it looks like it may take a while and I'm not in the luxury position that I'm able to use another computer every day. I still have my phone, so I can check my email and such, but I think I won't be online as much as I usually am.

Flounder Marble

Hi all,

Remember Flounder the fish from The Little Mermaid? He was the inspiration for this marble :)

orly sweet collection lemonade snowcone watermarble inspired by flounder botje the little mermaid nail polish nailswatchesWatermarble with Orly Lemonade and Snowcone over one coat of Snowcone. The blue basecolor makes it look like a greenish yellow (that was not my intention). I love how the colors combine!

Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder the little mermaidSee? Flounder is so cute. I don't get why he's called Botje ('Little bone') in the Netherlands tho. (Misschien naar het soort vis, Bot, maar Botje is helemaal geen bot!) The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite childhood movies. I should watch it again sometime soon!

This is one of my favorites so far. I seem to get a hang of it more and I really enjoy doing marbles! The only thing I don't like, is the cleanup afterwards lol!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Swirled Holographic

Hi all,

So yesterday I went to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and it was awesome! Seriously, I've been sucked in by the movie all 146 mins of it and for someone with a concentration level as I have, that's telling you something. I'm sooo easily distracted. I won't tell you what happens, since it's way better to watch the movie yourself, but if you're in doubt: don't doubt, just go watch it! It's my favorite movie so far, for one because they stuck to the stories in the book and second because it was really a great movie - acting, effects, the whole setting..

Okay, so far the unrelated babbling. Now for something nailrelated: a konadicure that I did a while ago! I thought it looked fun so I want to share it with you :)

konadicure china glaze chg 2nite lol stamping imageplate m63 purple blue holographic nail polish nailswatchesChina Glaze 2Nite stamped with China Glaze LOL and imageplate M63. LOL dulled a bit after stamping, but 2Nite is still very holographic. I like the effect! It's quite subtle, but still stands out. I know I sound weird lol!

konadicure china glaze chg 2nite lol stamping imageplate m63 purple blue holographic nail polish nailswatchesIt's even better in daylight and full sunlight, so I snapped some more pictures. You see more of the rainbow irl, but my camera wouldn't capure that unless it faded away all the blue and purple in the polishes. *sigh*

konadicure china glaze chg 2nite lol stamping imageplate m63 purple blue holographic nail polish nailswatchesAnd while I'm posting this, I'm thinking of the summer, when there was still a lot of sunlight.. I notice my mood is better when the sun is out, so that's a bit of a downside when it's November and the sky is mostly grey. It helps to look at these kind of pictures tho!

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy your Thursday! Thanks for stopping by :)

Recent Sparkle-y NOTD

Hi all,

A quick NOTD post today. I wore this almost two weeks ago, I think? I loved the look, even though most of my nails were green and I had blue accent nails, but anyhow, it was all sparkle-y hehe.

orly enchanted forest teal sparkle cnd opi absolutely alice aa nail polish nailswatchesOrly Enchanted Forest with CND Teal Sparkle on my pinky, middle and index, and OPI Absolutely Alice on my ring fingers (and thumbs, but I don't have a picture of that). I thought it looked pretty nice! I have to admit that I hadn't worn Absolutely Alice till then, so it was about time *hangs head in shame*

I will do a seperate post on Absolutely Alice in the future :)

Zoya Robyn

Hi all,

A while ago, I bought some polishes from Angie and she put this polish in as an extra. How sweet!! This isn't a color I would have picked out myself, but after trying it, I have to say: I really like it!

zoya robyn flash collection 2010 bright blue creme nail polish nailswatchesZoya Robyn, three coats in daylight. Robyn is a bright blue creme. It works really good with my skintone, it really pops. I can see this being an awesome base for nailart, too.

Application was good. The polish was opaque in three easy coats. I did mess it up a bit on one finger, but that was my own fault lol. The polish dried quickly as well.

I wanna have some nice weather around here so I can feel like wearing this color! It felt a bit odd when I put it on, being all grey and rainy outside. But it's definitely a winner for me. Thanks Ange!

Andddd I just saw that I reached 650 followers! Jeez! I never would have thought that I would make it to 50 followers (hell, having 5 followers made me jump up and down), let alone 650. Thank you so much for visiting my little blog. I know I haven't been around that much the last couple of months and that I wasn't really a nice person when I was (most of the time). Even though the sun isn't shining anymore outside, I'm starting to feel a little better and my mood is lifting, step by step. I want to say thank you to all of you who have sent me messages and emails. They mean a lot to me. *takes out the tissues*

Thank you.

Back When There Was Sun...

Hi all,

When there was still sun around (this sounds dramatic, haha), I picked out one of my newest China Glaze polishes: 2Nite. Here she is today!

china glaze om collection idk periwinkle holographic nail polish nailswatchesChina Glaze 2Nite, three coats over Aqua Base in sunlight. 2Nite is a gorgeous light blue (but with a hint of periwinkle) holographic polish with the full-on rainbow effect in sunlight. It was one of the polishes that I picked up at the Beauty Salon Dimensions Fair in September and I certainly don't regret it.

china glaze om collection idk periwinkle holographic nail polish nailswatchesApplication over Nfu Oh's Aqua Base was good. I didn't have bald spots or patchiness because I used Aqua Base as a basecoat underneath this pretty. The dryingtime was very quick.

It's part of the China Glaze OMG Collection for spring 2008 and is as far as I know, discontinued. You can still find bottles on eBay and at some etailers and I even managed to snatch a couple bottles at the Dutch China Glaze stand on the BSD fair.

Essie Mesmerize

Hi all,

My laptop works a bit better today, but I can't run messenger or my photo programme next to internet.. No idea why but I'm sure it'll be fine later. Today I have an Essie for you: Mesmerize.

essie mesmerize blue creme nail polish nailswatchesEssie Mesmerize, two coats in daylight. Mesmerize is a vibrant medium blue creme - it's a little darker than my picture shows you.

Application was great! The formula was easy to work with and the polish dried quickly. I do think the Essie brush is a little on the thin side; I prefer my brushes to be a little wider, but other than that, I have no complaints!

What's your favorite Essie polish?

New Catrice Polishes and a Comparison

Hi all!

I wanted to show you the new polishes from Catrice that they generously gave to me for consideration. I got Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! and Absolutely Chinchilly! I swatched them both on nailwheels as well as a comparison between Absolutely Chinchilly! and Essie Chinchilly. I still owe you the real on the nails swatches, don't worry, they're coming!

catrice hip queens wear blue jeans 350 blue shimmer blue flecks absolutely chinchilly khaki creme nail polish nailswatches new collection 2010 catriceLeft Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly! and Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! on the right. Absolutely Chinchilly! is a khaki creme and both the color and the name really remind me of Essie Chinchilly, the comparison between these two is below :) Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! is a gorgeous slighly dusty blue with tiny light blue glitter flecks in it. The color is darker in low light, making it appear like a dark blue creme.

So.. Here's the comparison I promised!

catrice absolutely chinchilly! comparison essie chinchilly khaki creme nail polish nails nailswatches catrice new collection 2010 previewEssie Chinchilly on the left, Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly! on the right, both are two coats. I have to tell you beforehand that my picture makes the difference appear to be more obvious, but it's hardly noticeable irl! Chinchilly is the tiniest amount of a shade lighter, but I can only see that when I'm looking at the wheel right under my nose, so to say. When I take more distance, let's say 15 - 20 cm, the difference is not visible at all.

I prefer the application of Catrice, since the brush is wider and makes it easier to apply the polish. Also, Catrice is thicker in formula, while Essie's formula is on the thin side.

Catrice made an affordable dupe for Essie Chinchilly! While Essie retails for € 13,49 a bottle, Catrice only costs a fraction of the price - € 2,49 a bottle.

Orly Royal Navy

Hi all!

How are you doing today? I spent almost my entire evening yesterday with watching X Factor UK haha. Any of you watching as well? Who's your favorite? I've had a thing for Matt ever since his first audition, but yesterday he didn't have his hat on and he was wearing a suit and I actually thought he was pretty hot hehe! Ahem, what was I talking about? Oh, right, nail polish *giggles*.

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesOrly Royal Navy, three coats in daylight. Royal navy is a gorgeous bright blue jelly with aqua colored glass flecks that are scattered here and there in the polish. I put on three coats and still had obvious visible nail line, which is a bit of a down side for me. Maybe I should have tried a fourth coat, but I left it at this.

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesIn this picture you can clearly see what I mean by scattered glass flecks. They are not evenly defided within the polish, making them pop up randomly on the nail. The contrast is pretty nice!

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesApplication was pretty good, I always have some problems with jellies somehow, maybe it's just my lack of skills hehe. Dryingtime was good.

The color is a little *bright* for me, so that's something to get used to. This is a polish that I actually picked up because everyone was raving about it and I thought I'd give it a shot. It's definitely pretty, only not my kinda color (yet). I'll have to wear it some more to let the shade grow on me! What do you think of Royal Navy? Worth the hype?

Sweet Skittles & Dots

Hi all,

Another mani that looks fun to me! Again, this one is really easy to do and because of the colors, it looks sweet and summery. I used the colors from the Orly Sweet Collection for spring 2010. Yes, I'm aware that I use these polishes a lot so I hope you're not tired of them yet!

Pinkie: Snowcone with Pixy Stix dots
Ring: Lollipop with Snowcone dots
Middle: Gumdrop with Lollipop dots
Index: Lemonade with Pixy Stix dots

It looks so cute and summery. Yes, I know summer is over, but that doesn't mean that we can't wear fun and bright colors any more *rebel*! I might do more of those skittle and dots mani's, it looks kinda cool.

Orbis Non Sufficit Stripes

Hi all,

A quick and easy but fun mani for you. I showed you RBL's Orbis Non Sufficit last week and it was such a nice color, so I decided to wear it a little longer. I gave it a little twist by putting stripes on the polish and I really like the result!

rbl rescue beauty lounge orbis non sufficit ons dusty green creme china glaze ink dark blue black striper nail polish stripes striped nailswatches nailart
RBL Orbis Non Sufficit, two coats, striped with China Glaze Ink. Ink has a striper brush which is really thin. It makes it really easy to draw some stripes, although mine are not perfect because I don't have a steady hand at all.

It's so easy to do and in my opinion, it can spice up your manicure. I like the combination! What are your 'spice up the mani' tricks? Please share!

Barielle A Bouquet For Ava

Hi all,

Today I have another Barielle for you. I think they have some really nice colors and this one fits in that category perfectly.

barielle a bouquet for ava green blue teal creme nail polish nailswatchesBarielle A Bouquet For Ava, two coats in daylight. Please imagine this more green - the green in the polish was a bit camerashy. A Bouquet For Ava is a gorgeous teal creme that leans mostly to the blue side, but the green is definately visible.

Application on this one was good. The other Barielles that I tried were a bit thick, but this one had a nice formula and dried pretty quickly.

What do you think of A Bouquet For Ava? If you have some Barielle(s) yourself, which one is your fave?

Kinetics Misty

Hi all,

We've seen a lot of soft, soothing colors the last couple of months, and I know we're getting ready voor fall and winter but I'm not finished with these light pastel-ish colors! Today I have a polish from Kinetics for you.

kinetics light blue grey misty creme nail polish pastel nailswatchesKinetics Misty, two coats in daylight. Misty is a beautiful lightblue creme with a hint of grey, giving it the 'misty' feeling. It reminds me a bit of a creme version of Essie Sag Harbor, but the latter is more grey and has shimmer, while this is obviously a creme.

Application was good. The formula of this polish was great, especially when you think of it as an pastel-ish color. I needed two coats for opacity and those coats practically applied themselves. Dryingtime was quick; I used this color as a base for some nailart only ten minutes later and it was fully dried (I didn't use a quick dry topcoat).

I really like this color. It may not be very fall like, but I like how the color gives me an illusion of a summer tan - which has painfully faded by now lol.

Reminder: today is your last day to enter for the Harry Potter nailart contest! Please click for the details.

From The Vault: CND Sapphire Sparkle Over Chanel Paradoxal

Hi all!

When we were on vacay, Natasja came to visit and she brought some polish along. She also brought CND Sapphire Sparkle and it looked so gorgeous that I put it over my Chanel Paradoxal mani that I was wearing. (Will do a post about Paradoxal soon!) It looked SO awesome.

I love it!

It made me want to get myself some CND Effects :) I already ordered one of them (Jade Sparkle) but this made me want more. I have one new Effect coming in the mail as a little gift for getting a 9 on my first assignment for my Spanish course, yay!

Do you own CND Effects? If so, which ones?

Crappy Watermarble

Hi all!

Yesterday I was home alone, so I played a bit with polish. I thought I could do a marble with three shades of blue, but after trying multiple times I found out that the shades I used, didn't really work. I decided I could do a marble with some of the Orly Sweets, since my first marble with Lollipop went quite good. I picked Snowcone and Gumdrop, but after marbling, I realized these two are not so much of a watermarble match. See for yourself; my crappy watermarble.

watermarble nailart blue green pastel creme nail polish snowcone gumdrop orly sweet collection spring 2010 nailswatcheswatermarble nailart blue green pastel creme nail polish snowcone gumdrop orly sweet collection spring 2010 nailswatchesWatermarble with Orly Gumdrop and Snowcone. Both colors work well for marbling, but not together. Personally, I think the contrast between these two isn't big enough to make it a successful marble, but I think it doesn't look butt ugly though. I like it when a marble has a bit of an edge, if you know what I mean :)

I had MAJOR issues with bubbeling and I can't see where the bubbles came from. I checked the cup before I dipped my finger in, so I think I must be doing something wrong in the process of having my finger dipped in the cup and cleaning up the excess polish haha. Better luck next time ;) At least I had fun doing it!

Barielle Berry Blue

Hi all!

How are you all doing? I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Today I have one of my first Barielles for you. I was really excited to try these, so here we go with the first one.

barielle berry blue dark blue creme nailpolish nailswatchesBarielle Berry Blue, one coat in daylight. Berry Blue is a gorgeous dark denim blue creme. It's not so dark that it looks black around the edges, but it can look black in low light. And yes people, you've read this right.. Only one coat!

I have to admit that the cap was stuck to the bottle when I tried to open it, so I *think* some polish was spilled during transport. I cleaned off the entire cap and neck of the bottle before I used Berry Blue, so the polish might have gotten thicker in transport since some polish leaked.

The formula was a bit on the thick side (but I think this is due to the spilling) but I found it easy to work with and the polish covers very well in only one coat.

I will try thinning it next time I use it. I didn't want to use thinner at the first try, since I felt like I wanted to try it the way it arrived at my doorstep :) I think the polish will be opaque in two coats when thinned, which still is pretty good!

I don't think I own another polish like this yet! I do have a couple of these dark denim shimmers, but no cremes, so that's a winner for me as well! I'm excited to try the other colors that I got, they all look so pretty..

Ciaté Festival Fever Couple II

Hi all!

Today I have the last of the Ciaté Festival Fever Collection for you. Not much to tell you beforehand since I posted the previous couple only two days ago, so here we go!

ciaté festival fever access all areas summer colletion coral satin creme finish nails swatch review nailswatchesCiaté Access All Areas, three coats in daylight. Access All Areas is a pretty straightforward bright coral creme with a satin finish. I dunno if it's intentional, but it sure makes the coral different from all the other corals around.

ciaté festival fever headliner summer colletion blue creme satin finish nails swatch review nailswatchesCiaté Headliner, two coats in sunlight. Headliner is a light blue creme with a semi-satin finish. I think I might have gotten an off bottle because I haven't seen this on swatches with Headliner. It still is a pretty color though and it can be fixed with a coat of topcoat!

Application on these two was good, although the finish was (semi) satin. The brush is easy to work with and I find it easy to apply my polish right. The formula was just as the other Festival Fevers I swatched and reviewed, a little on the thick side but no problems whatsoever. Overall I'm really positive about their formula!

I like the collection, Festival Fever; summery bright colors. They're not entirely unique, but I can't say that my stash is filled with dupes of these. The colors are pretty and give you a summer feel - something that we need here in Holland with these big dark grey clouds :(

What do you think of the collection?
