Plaid-ish Stamped Nails

Hi all,

So today I have the konadicure for you that I was wearing in yesterdays post (how to remove foil from fauxnad plates). It's super easy, but I loved the look and it's actually still on my nails. Yes I say "still on my nails", since I did this many almost an exact week ago and I just have three tiny chips. Not bad, since I didn't apply topcoat on this one (whoops)!

I did this while I was swatching last week and decided to keep it on because I really liked the combination. Lollipop is an excellent base for this kind of nailart and stamping since it's a really calm color. I will be using this a lot, although I didn't expect to when I got the Sweets in!

Do you have any "holy grail" combinations when you are stamping? Like do you have certain colors that are favorite for your basecolor or your stamping color? Please share!

Orly Lollipop

Hi all!

Today I have a polish for you that I used for my first watermarble a while back (My First Watermarble). It's Lollipop from the Sweet Collection!

orly sweet pastel spring collection 2010 lavender pink creme swatch nails polish nailswatchesOrly Lollipop, two coats in daylight. Lollipop is a very pretty lavender creme with a hint of pink. Or you could call it a pink that leans strongly to lavender, whichever you prefer ;) It's not a standard color so I like this a lot.

Application was alright; the polish is a bit on the thick side and streaky while being applied to the nail, but that's what I'm used to by now from pastels. Drying time is good. I let it dry without topcoat and I had no problems.

I own the remaining polishes from the Sweet Collection as well, but I haven't had the time to take pictures of them.. Will do in the near future!

Pieces Nail Polish

Hi all,

Last sunday, Michèle and I stumbled upon some unknown pretties; nail polish from Pieces. Pieces is a store that sells mostly accessories and clothing, but they now sell nail polish as well. I picked up three colors; Cookie Dough, Lavender Haze and It's Camouflage.

The pretties! Cookie Dough, Lavender Haze, It's Camouflage

pieces nail polish green nailpolish it's camouflagePieces It's Camouflage, three coats in indirect sunlight. I tried to capture the colors as accurate as possile, so there's some variety in the poses lol. It's Camouflage is a dusty, putty green creme. The name says it all; it's a perfect camouflage color. Application was watery with the first coat. I thought I wouldn't be able to make it opaque in a couple of coats, but I had no visible nail line in three coats. Drying time is good and the polish is shiny like hell! No topcoat needed.

pieces taupe brown creme cookie doughPieces Cookie Dough, one coat in indirect daylight. Yes, this is a onecoater!! Yay!! Pigmentation in this one is awesome. Cookie Dough is a dark taupe, or dusty brown creme. These kind of colors look very classy to me and it's almost impossible for me to not like these shades. Application is good. The polish shines a little less than It's Camouflage, so you could apply topcoat for extra shine. Drying time was great.

pieces lavender haze nail polish nailpolish pink purple lilacPieces Lavender Haze, three coats in daylight. Lavender Haze is, as the name states, a lavender colored creme. It's very light and almost pink in some lights, but mostly it's a true lavender. I really like this color. Somehow it makes my hands look really tanned (= big plus). The structure was a bit watery at first, but like It's Camouflage, all evened out and Lavender Haze was opaque in three coats. Since this is a pastel, it tends to be a little streaky so be careful when you apply this one.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the polishes! The quality is just as good or maybe even better than other, more expensive brands of nail polish and they have some interesting colors. I saw a great red as well, that might be a RBL Banging dupe :). The only little downside I have is the square cap that makes it a little less comfortable to apply the polish than application with a round cap. But other than that, I'm really digging these.

Oh and a little tip; the polish looks a lot darker on the nail than they do in the bottle! So don't let this scare you when you want to pick these up.

I bought them in a set of three for € 6,95 at the Pieces store at the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. You can pick the three colors yourself. I believe they are € 2,50 or € 3 a piece when you buy them seperately, but please don't quote me on that ;)

What do you think of these Pieces polishes?

Thanks for stopping by!

Kinetics Mysterious Cloud

Hi all!

I haven't been feeling too well lately, so that's why you didn't see as many updates as you're used to. I didn't feel like polishing lately, so I did my nails twice in one and a half week (I kid you not!) but I will resume swatching and posting when I feel better. Today I have a polish from a lesser known brand for you: Kinetics Mysterious Cloud.

Kinetics Mysterious Cloud, drie laagjes.

Kinetics Mysterious Cloud, three coats in daylight. My picture isn't really color accurate; it's more red based than blue based - as my picture shows. Mysterious Cloud is a lavender colored creme with a similar feeling as Illamasqua Wink. I don't think they are dupes, but I will check that later on in a comparison.

De lak is goed van structuur en ook het kwastje is fijn, maar dat wist ik eigenlijk al van My Blue Heaven en Luxury Purple. De droogtijd is prima en wat mij betreft zijn deze lakken echt aanraders!

The structure of the polish is good, as well as the brush. I knew this already because I wore My Blue Heaven and Luxury Purple before, but I wanted to mention this once more. Drying time was good and in my opinion these polishes are really recommended!

Illamasqua Wink

Hi all!

How are you all today? Last workingday of the week, on to the weekend! Today I have a polish for you that I got in an amazing swap with Laquermanic, almost two weeks ago. She surprised me with very pretty polishes! I am actually wearing this polish for the second time in two weeks. Yes, you got that right! Well, on to the pics so you can see why I like this so much :)

Illamasqua Wink, two coats with one coat of Nubar Diamont. Wink is a gorgeous lavender colored creme. She's a tad darker than the typical lavender, but she has a bit of a dusty look to her so I really love her! The pictures above don't capture her true color, but the next one does (at least on my screen).

As you can see, she has a little more red to her than shown in the first two pics (I apologize for the crappy picture though). (Hmm, on this screen - at my boyfriend's - it looks mostly yellow? That's not what the pic looked like on my own screen! Does it look yellow on your screen? Let me know, otherwise I will try to fix it!)

Application was good. The polish is a little bit on the thick side, but noting I can't manage. The polish itself went on smooth and was relatively quick dry.

This is, hands down, my favorite pastel-ish color I own so far. It has something to it that makes her different from all other pastels out there, although she might look like "just another pastel purple/lilac/lavender" to you. As for me, I think I'm sold.

Thanks so much for sending me this dear laquermanic!

Thanks for stoppig by, dear reader!
