Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe

Hi all!

Almost Christmas! Squeeeee!! Are you as excited as I am?

BTW: I just discovered a pattern in my last posts - there's a lot of green. Sorry about that, but I just love green.. Especially with Christmas. Anyway, this green shot right to my number one green spot, beating China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle and OCC Blackboard. Yes, even Blackboard. This polish is amazing. I'm sure you've seen her a gazillion times already, but she deserves more pics. So here she is: Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe (MMutM).

MMutM is a gorgeous green packed with glass flecks. Let me tell you: my pictures don't do her justice! She's even prettier irl and I couldn't help staring at my nails.

orly meet me under the mistletoe mmutm green glass flecks nail polish nailswatches tis the season holiday collection 2010Application on MMutM was great - quick and easy and the polish dried quickly. I've mentioned it a gazillion times before, but I really love the rubber caps that Orly does. It makes it easy to handle the wand of the polish :)

That's all I have for you today, dear reader. Thanks for stopping by!

This post somehow didn't go up this morning.. I have no idea why!

Flounder Marble

Hi all,

Remember Flounder the fish from The Little Mermaid? He was the inspiration for this marble :)

orly sweet collection lemonade snowcone watermarble inspired by flounder botje the little mermaid nail polish nailswatchesWatermarble with Orly Lemonade and Snowcone over one coat of Snowcone. The blue basecolor makes it look like a greenish yellow (that was not my intention). I love how the colors combine!

Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder the little mermaidSee? Flounder is so cute. I don't get why he's called Botje ('Little bone') in the Netherlands tho. (Misschien naar het soort vis, Bot, maar Botje is helemaal geen bot!) The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite childhood movies. I should watch it again sometime soon!

This is one of my favorites so far. I seem to get a hang of it more and I really enjoy doing marbles! The only thing I don't like, is the cleanup afterwards lol!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Recent Sparkle-y NOTD

Hi all,

A quick NOTD post today. I wore this almost two weeks ago, I think? I loved the look, even though most of my nails were green and I had blue accent nails, but anyhow, it was all sparkle-y hehe.

I thought it looked pretty nice! I have to admit that I hadn't worn Absolutely Alice till then, so it was about time *hangs head in shame*

orly enchanted forest teal sparkle cnd opi absolutely alice aa nail polish nailswatchesI wasn't impressed with the wear of AA though, it fell off both my thumbs on the second day I believe, so no, that was a big downside for me.

I will do a seperate post on Absolutely Alice in the future :)

Frankenstein Watermarble

Hi all!

I didn't really realize that it's almost Halloween, and I still had a ton of things planned! I hope I can squeeze in some more before Halloween :) Today I have a watermarble for you! It's a 'Frankenstein' Watermarble; green and purple.

watermarble green and purple creme nail polish frankenstein opi funky dunkey orly gumdrop nailart nailswatchesFor this marble, I used OPI Funky Dunkey and Orly Gumdrop. The light, pastel green and the purple go really well together! I really like it. It does remind me a bit of some Frankenstein images; there are a ton of them out there with a green and purple thing going on.

watermarble green and purple creme nail polish frankenstein opi funky dunkey orly gumdrop nailart nailswatchesThere's not much more that I want to say about this - except that I really really like it!

Marbles still manage to surprise me, so I'm planning on doing a marble afternoon soon haha.

Are you planning on doing something Halloween-y with your nails? If so, what are you going to do?

CND Teal Sparkle Meets Orly Enchanted Forest

Hi all!

Two weeks ago, I showed you CND Urban Oasis and Teal Sparkle (damn, is it two weeks ago already?). I started trying Teal Sparkle over several different polishes, and today I want to share one of my favorites with you :)

cnd creative nail design effects polish teal sparkle topcoat layering over orly enchanted forest nail polish nailswatchesCND Teal Sparkle over two coats of Orly Enchanted Forest. This was so pretty that I kept it on for four days (I wanted to try more layering thingies).

cnd creative nail design effects polish teal sparkle topcoat layering over orly enchanted forest nail polish nailswatchesTeal Sparkle is a gorgeous effect that works really well with Enchanted Forest - a very pretty forest green. I really love the effect - the flecks in Teal Sparkle reflect mostly green in various shades, but also blue and gold.

I think you will see a ton more of these layering combinations in the future, hehe. If you have layering suggestions for CND effects, please tell me!

Orly Royal Navy

Hi all!

How are you doing today? I spent almost my entire evening yesterday with watching X Factor UK haha. Any of you watching as well? Who's your favorite? I've had a thing for Matt ever since his first audition, but yesterday he didn't have his hat on and he was wearing a suit and I actually thought he was pretty hot hehe! Ahem, what was I talking about? Oh, right, nail polish *giggles*.

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesOrly Royal Navy, three coats in daylight. Royal navy is a gorgeous bright blue jelly with aqua colored glass flecks that are scattered here and there in the polish. I put on three coats and still had obvious visible nail line, which is a bit of a down side for me. Maybe I should have tried a fourth coat, but I left it at this.

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesIn this picture you can clearly see what I mean by scattered glass flecks. They are not evenly defided within the polish, making them pop up randomly on the nail. The contrast is pretty nice!

orly in the navy collection 2010 royal navy blue jelly with glass flecks scattered nail polish nailswatchesApplication was pretty good, I always have some problems with jellies somehow, maybe it's just my lack of skills hehe. Dryingtime was good.

The color is a little *bright* for me, so that's something to get used to. This is a polish that I actually picked up because everyone was raving about it and I thought I'd give it a shot. It's definitely pretty, only not my kinda color (yet). I'll have to wear it some more to let the shade grow on me! What do you think of Royal Navy? Worth the hype?

Orly Rockin' Rocket

Hi all!

The holiday collections are popping up everywhere around us, and today I have one from the Orly 'Tis The Season Collection for holiday 2010 for you.

orly rocking rocket holiday collection 2010 tis the season brown red golden shimmer nail polish nailswatchesOrly Rockin' Rocket, two coats in daylight. Rockin' Rocket has a sienna or maroon base, which is a very red based brown, packed with pale copper and copper shimmer. I absolutely adore this color. It looks so warm and comfy, yet sparkly and interesting and far from boring.

orly rocking rocket holiday collection 2010 tis the season brown red golden shimmer nail polish nailswatchesApplication was great. Orly's rubber cap is great to work with and the formula on this baby was awesome, smooth like butter. It almost did the work itself..

orly rocking rocket holiday collection 2010 tis the season brown red golden shimmer nail polish nailswatchesDrying time was great as well. I'm really really pleased with the only polish from 'Tis The Season that I have but I still hope that I can snatch Meet Me Under The Mistletoe, that one looks stunning as well. Well done, Orly!

Which polish(es) from the Orly holiday collection strikes your fancy?

Sweet Skittles & Dots

Hi all,

Another mani that looks fun to me! Again, this one is really easy to do and because of the colors, it looks sweet and summery. I used the colors from the Orly Sweet Collection for spring 2010. Yes, I'm aware that I use these polishes a lot so I hope you're not tired of them yet!

orly sweet collection spring 2010 creme nail polish pixy stix lemonade gum drop gumdrop lollipop snowcone nailswatches dots dottingtool skittle maniSweet skittles and dots! I used two coats of each as a base. This is what's on my nails:
Pinkie: Snowcone with Pixy Stix dots
Ring: Lollipop with Snowcone dots
Middle: Gumdrop with Lollipop dots
Index: Lemonade with Pixy Stix dots

It looks so cute and summery. Yes, I know summer is over, but that doesn't mean that we can't wear fun and bright colors any more *rebel*! I might do more of those skittle and dots mani's, it looks kinda cool.

Sweet Marble

Hi all,

A presceduled post for today since I won't be having time to upload anything today or tomorrow. It's another marble that I did a while back and I thought it turned out pretty nicely.

watermarble marble nails nailart orly sweet spring 2010 collection pastel pink pixy stix lemonade yellow creme nail polish nailswatchesWatermarble done with Orly Lemonade as a base and Lemonade and Pixy Stix used as marble colors. They are so cute and happy together. The Orly Sweets are amazing for marbling, since they're very pigmented.

watermarble marble nails nailart orly sweet spring 2010 collection pastel pink pixy stix lemonade yellow creme nail polish nailswatchesI think my index turned out less than the other fingers, but even that one looks alright to me. This might be the first marble I'm really pleased with :)

And just because my fingers looked superduperawesome after marbling, I added a pic pre cleanup.

watermarble marble nails nailart orly sweet spring 2010 collection pastel pink pixy stix lemonade yellow creme nail polish nailswatchesAwesome right? I used the vaseline method this time instead of the tape method, and I found it to be easy to work with: if you apply the vaseline right, you won't have that much of a hassle to take the polish of your fingers.
