MAC Jade Dragon

Hi all,

Hope you're enjoying the weekend! Today I have one of the polishes from the MAC Nail Trend collection by Jin Soon for 2010 for you. Jessika was so sweet to send some polishes over, thanks hun!

mac nail trend collection winter 2010 jin soon jade dragon nail polish nailswatchesMAC Jade Dragon, two coats in daylight. Jade Dragon is a gorgeous dark green shimmer. It's not as flat as my picture shows it, the light outside was doing funny things, so sorry about that! It's a very pretty shade, although I wouldn't call this entirely unique.. I think this must have a dupe somewhere.

The application was flawless. The formula on Jade Dragon was like a dream - it went on smoothly, dried very quickly and the polish itself was just easy to work with. It was well worth my $$!

Oh and before I forget, I didn't have any staining. I heard some people complaining about that on MUA, but I used my regular basecoat and was fine when I took the polish off :)

China Glaze Zombie Zest

Hi all,

It's almost Halloween and I just remembered that I haven't shown you the China Glaze Awakening polishes for Halloween 2010 yet! I will try to show them all before Halloween, so here's the first one: Zombie Zest!

china glaze zombie zest green glass flecks shimmer awakening limited edition collection 2010 halloween nail polish nailswatchesChina Glaze Zombie Zest, four coats in daylight. Zombie Zest is a yukky, murky green filled with tons of green and gold glass flecks. I wouldn't necessarily call this a glitter. I needed four coats for opacity, so Zombie Zest is a bit of a sheer Zombie.

I really like these kind of colors atm. I don't know what it is, but these you-love-them-or-you-hate-them ugly colors appeal to me.

china glaze zombie zest green glass flecks shimmer awakening limited edition collection 2010 halloween nail polish nailswatchesApplication.. Zombie Zest is on the sheer side, so you need more coats to get full coverage (if you don't want vnl, like me). The polish formula was alright, at some points it was a bit on the thick side, but still runny. Drying time was good despite the amount of coats.

If you want Zombie Zest, don't hold out too long because the Awakening Collection for Halloween 2010 is limited edition. If it's sold out, there are a couple of dupes: SpaRitual Optical Illusion and Orly It's Not Rocket Science. I will post a comparison on the last one soon so you can see how similar they are :)

RBL Orbis Non Sufficit

Hi all,

Not much news from my side, went out of the house yesterday evening and it helped me a little to be starting putting things together. I hope I can get my head organized in the next couple of days, so I'm still asking you for your patience. How are you all doing?

Today I have one of the polishes for you that I got at the 50% off sale at Rescue Beauty Lounge last year and it's called Orbis Non Sufficit, which means The world is not enough. Orbis Non Sufficit is part of the limited edition Blogger collection for fall 2009 and I was lucky enough to grab myself a bottle.

Orbis Non Sufficit is a gorgeous dusty green creme. You know I like dusty colors, and I love this particular one. It looks so deep and mossy..

The formula on this one was pretty good, a little on the thick side maybe, but the polish is very pigmented so that makes up for a bit of it. I had no problems applying this baby.

I didn't use a quickdry topcoat so it dries pretty quickly on its own. It's also shiny as hell, so that was a bit of a problem while snapping pics since you could see the entire place I was at to take pictures. Not exactly my intention! But all worked out so no biggy.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and I hope you'll enjoy your sunday :)

Or Maybe Tomorrow?

Hi all,

Things aren't improving at all and I'm feeling less and less like myself. I feel physically weak on top of it all and I can't handle everything around me at the moment. I feel like I'm about to collapse or something. Somewhere deep within I'm glad that I edited these pictures beforehand so I can put in some nailrelated things in this post besides me complaining about my life. I'm so sorry.

The pictures I have for you today are *again* from a recent NOTD. I have a ton of nailart and swatches somewhere in my folders but I can't put myself to edit them so they'll have to wait.

I posted about Damone Roberts 1968 and Jade Sparkle, but I didn't put them together till recently. I really like the effect, it gives a little something extra.

Most of the time I see tons of golden glass flecks giving it almost a golden flash or cast, but those show up better in the next two pictures.

She Went All The Way Around The World..

Hi all!

All the way back in may, I placed a large order for OPI Damone Roberts 1968 on the website of Damone Roberts. A couple of days later, I got a shipment confirmation and the pretties were on their way. Although it's a long way from the US to The Netherlands, I was getting a little worried when the pretties didn't arrive in the beginning of june. I contacted Damone Roberts and was told that they would look into it to see where my package went.

A couple of days later, I got an email from the manager from Damone, who basically told me the package was delivered in Singapore! Oh my.. That's not even the same continent! He tried to track the person down that had gotten my package, but after a week or two I got bad news. He told me I would get a refund, that would be processed in the next couple of days since the person couldn't be traced (if I understand his email correctly). I was really disappointed, because a couple of days after my package was shipped, Damone announced that the OPI Damone Roberts 1968 polishes were sold out. Boo!!

Thankfully, after a while I got an email that the person was tracked down in Singapore, and that she agreed to ship the package back to Damone. Whoooooohoooo! It would take another two weeks at least to arrive here, but damn, they would come!! However, when I checked in after two weeks with the manager, he told me the package hadn't been shipped back yet.. I was getting nervous again, since it was mid july now. He would let me know if anything changed.

I believe it was only two days before my holiday that I got confirmation that the polishes were shipped back to the US. After my holiday to Spain, I got confirmation that they had received the package and that they would send them to me as soon as I replied to the email. So, now, after 4 months of waiting, I received the package two weeks ago. FINALLY!! Thanks to the manager from Damone Roberts, who didn't give up and made sure I would get my package; thank you! (also thanks from the ladies that got their pretties out of this package)

So anyway... I got Damone Roberts 1968 in and it looked pretty, but also a bit like an ordinary mint colored polish. I tried her on.

opi damone roberts 1968 dr mint green creme nail polish nailswatchesDamone Roberts 1968, three coats in daylight. Damone Roberts 1968 is a very pretty mint green creme that suits my skin tone pretty well! I was a bit scared, since mint greens tend to give me lobster claws.. But this one became my favorite mint green instantly.

opi damone roberts 1968 dr mint green creme nail polish nailswatchesApplication was good. The polish went on smoothly with the wide OPI brush and it was a bit streaky at the first coat, but it all evened out nicely.

So.. Was it worth all the waiting and the time spent to track this baby down? For me personally, yes. If I knew beforehand that it would take so long to get these, I probably would have passed (who wouldn't?), but now that I got my bottle and see how it works with my skintone.. I really like it.

What's your thought on this color? If it worth the hype?

Buenos Dias!

Hi all!

How are you all doing? Guess who's back from holiday? Yes, it's me! Lol is has been a week filled with sun and reading just to empty my head a bit. And it did, a bit. I also need my holiday with Michelle and Michèle! Only a couple of days, yay!

Anyway, I wanted to share a NOTD from before I went to Spain. The pictures turned out a bit less than I expected because the polish was rediculously shiny, so I had the reflection of just about everything in the house pictured on my nails.

mac blue india dusty blue creme htf liberty of london collection 2010 nailpolish nailswatches swatchMAC Blue India, three coats with one coat of Nubar Diamont. Blue India is a dusty medium blue creme. Dusty! This was actually one of my biggest lemmings and I recently got it in thanks to a lovely MUA'er in a swap which contains over 20 polishes lol. I love love love the color, but I got chips in a matter of hours so that was a big disappointment. I'll try it again to see if it was just bad luck or that the wear of this polish is indeed not that good.

Application is good. The polish went on smoothly. The polish bottle is a bit wonky in my opninion, so I had a bit of issues holding the cap to polish my nails, but I think that's just me lol.

I also wanted to share the pretties I picked up while I was in Spain. We only went to one little village with one little store that had polish, so I grabbed these four.

Yes love nailpolish green blue brown pink iridiscent shimmer creme spanish brand nailswatches 402 534 526 429Yes Love 402, 534, 526 and 429. They only have numbers, and I'm not even sure about the brand, Yes Love. When I google, I can't find anything on the brand - no swatches, nothing. Help? I can't imagine that I'm the only one buying these!

That's it for now, dear reader!

Catrice Bronzed Brown

Hi all!

Today I have a polish for you from the Caramé collection that Catrice recently released. I picked up only one of the colors since I don't think I will be wearing the other colors.. I picked up Bronzed Brown and I don't regret it :)

I needed only two coats for opacity and they went on very smoothly. Catrice has quite a nice brush so it's easy to work with. Drying time was good.

Comparison Time

Hi all!

It's time for some comparisons again! There are three comparisons again this time, so let's get started.

comparisons gosh purple heart kinetics shall we dance china glaze secret peri-winkle orly cashmere cardigan chanel nouvelle vague orly gumdrop
A little roundup

First up is a comparison between Chanel Nouvelle Vague and Orly Gumdrop.

chanel nouvelle vague limited edition 2010 comparison orly gumdrop turquoise aquaLeft Orly Gumdrop, right Chanel Nouvelle Vague. As you can see, they are dupes! The only difference is the really subtle shimmer that Nouvelle Vague holds and Gumdrop is a teeeeenie bit more blue, but the difference is barely visible. Gumdrop is easier to get your hands on and it's a budget friendly alternative if you want Chanel Nouvelle Vague.

Next up: a coincidental dupe! I bought Kinetics Shall We Dance? at Alice and Jo's havesentials and found out it looked really close to GOSH Purple Heart.

comparison GOSH purple heart duochrome Kinetics Shall we dance?Left GOSH Purple Heart, Kinetics Shall We Dance? on the right. The only difference is the way the light hits these polishes. These polishes are identical. They're both evenly duochrome-y (which I couldn't really capture on the wheel) and have the same smokey dark purple, mossy green colors. These are dupes.

Last but not least of this comparison post, I have two periwinkle cremes for you; China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle and Orly Cashmere Cardigan.

secret peri-winkle china glaze orly cashmere cardigan periwinkle creme comparisonSecret Peri-Winkle on the left, Cashmere Cardigan on the right. Please imagine this is more periwinkle (a tad bit of purple), because the color freaked out my camera. These are not dupes. Secret Peri-Winkle is lighter and a bit dustier than Cashmere Cardigan, while Cashmere Cardigan leans more towards purple. The difference is big enough to justify you owning both ;) These are not dupes.

And of course, to round it all up.. A little summary in the form of a shot of the nailwheel;

These were the comparisons I had for you, dear reader! If you have requests for more comparisons, feel free to ask me!

Something Really Pretty..

Hi all!

How are you all doing on this grey and rainy Saturday? I'm still a bit tired from my day with Michelle and Michèle, but it was so worth it! We scored quite a few nice things so I'm sure you'll see them soon on one of our blogs :)

Today I have a polish for you that is a little more expensive than the polish I normally buy, but the minute I saw it in store, I actually already knew I had to have it. I'm not really into these LE's and I don't really get the whole Jade hunt that's been going on (as it sells for over $200 on eBay - yikes!). Anyway, without further ado... I present you: Chanel Nouvelle Vague!

Chanel Nouvelle Vague, three coats in daylight. The first picture isn't really color accurate, that's why I added the second pic. My ringfinger shows the color best. Nouvelle Vague is a pale light blue or turquoise polish with very subtle shimmer. This is three coats, but it would have been good (as in: no VNL or bumps) in two coats. Application was a little tricky since the first coat went on streaky and a little bumpy.

Nouvelle Vague is a part of the latest Chanel LE which also contains Mistral and Rivièra, but I didn't get those because, well, they're pink (and I own too many pinks already). I love love love Nouvelle Vague and I might even end up buying another bottle..

And a little preview from what's coming up at Nailswatches:
The Ciaté Summer Collection 2010.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
