From the Vault - Pupa Crackle

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last post but Blogger was being stupid and didn't want me to log in again :/ I still haven't found a permanent solution, but I can now finally update again. ANYWAY... I've decided to post most of my backlog pics; I have so many that I haven't posted yet! Anyhoo, this is the silver/purple Pupa Crackle set that I picked up in store in December of 2010.


Silver/white base color, two coats and one coat of purple crackle. This picture doesn't really show you how pretty the silver polish is; its filled with shimmer and just really really shiny! I love how the matte purple crackle contrasts with this.

I've worn this several times over the past months and I still love it. I've also worn it over Orly Shine and China Glaze Something Sweet and I have to say, it's awesome on those colors as well!

I know there are tons of different crackles out there right now, and I'm sure there are dupes for both of these colors, but I absolutely love this set and I will use it many more times :)

It's Nailswatches' Birthday!

Hi all!

It's exactly a year ago that I went over to Nailswatches on blogger *yaaaay*! Which means that today is Nailswatches' birthday! I can't believe I've lasted a whole year with blogging.. On to the next year! As a treat, hot chocolate with whipped cream for everyone! ;) (or of course chocolate cake... hmm!)


Hot chocolate and whipped cream watermarble with OPI Suzi Says Da! and BarryM Matt White. I swear I only used those two colors (over a white base), the colors combined to an almost purple shade in between the colors! I love the outcome of it. It might not be perfect, but it sure is pretty in my eyes.


Bonuspicture! *walks round with a plate of mugs with hot chocolate and whipped cream* hehe! I really like this marble. I never thought it would turn out the way it did, but I love it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and buy myself some *real* chocolate cake to celebrate ;) Hope you all have a very nice Friday!

It's The Christmas Season!

Hi all!

It's December, which means that it's almost Christmas! I don't know about you, but Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. Last year, I didn't really do Christmas manicures, but I decided to do a couple this year, and this is the first one!


Two coats of H&M Love At First Sight as a base, stamped with China Glaze Ruby Pumps and imageplate M12. Imageplate M12 is the Christmas Konad stamping plate and I love it for this season. It holds a Santa, clocks, candycanes, 'Merry Christmas!" and more. We don't really have Candycanes much here, but I really like the look of them and they always make me think of Christmas..


I put a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust over it to make it sort of like a snow feel, and I think it turned out pretty nicely! Ruby Pumps is great for stamping, only the color is a bit less intense (which is only logical, since the polish is only one coat).


I like this so much that I might even wear this for Christmas! I'm still undecided, so I guess anything can happen ;)

Dress Like A Chick For Halloween!

Hi all,

I let my sister pick what to post today and since she thought chicks were cute.. Chicks it is. It feels very easter-y to me but it looks so damn cute and I couldn't help myself! I assume you can dress up like a chick for Halloween, so chicks on the nails must be fine as well :P


Chick nails! Ain't that cute? *giggles*. I used Hard Candy Splendid as a base and H&M Love At First Sight for the eggshells and the eyes. I used Wet n Wild Black Creme for the eyes and finished the chicks by giving them beaks with China Glaze Breakin'. They turned out pretty nice!


They would do great as easter nails as well, so I think you'll be seeing a variation on this creation somewhere near Easter next year too :)

Pink Ribbon Nails

Hi all,

As you might know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in this month, there is more attention for this decease. I want to let you know that I don't think that all other illnesses are less important or whatever, so it sometimes makes me a little bit.. Uneasy? (that's the word I guess) that there's a whole month of full attention going towards breast cancer while there are so many deceases and illnesses out there. I do want to point out that I like the initiative of Pink Ribbon has put out to make everyone aware of breast cancer, so that's why I've decided to do Pink Ribbon nails.


I used H&M Love At First Sight as a base and I used Konad stamping polish in pink (I guess, there's no name on my bottle!) for the ribbon and my accentnail. It's a bit thick but it made the perfect pink for this manicure, at least that's what I think.


I freenhanded the ribbon with a nailart brush, so it's not flawless haha.

Favorite White Creme

Hi all!

Today I have my favorite white creme for you. I never intended to swatch it alone, since most people around here just think it looks 'odd' (like you painted your nails with correction fluid) but I think white nails look awesome.

I have to admit that I use this mostly as a base for Konad though! It's my go to polish when I need a white creme.

H&M Love At First Sight, two coats in indirect daylight. The perfect white creme, imo - it's opaque in two coats. I have to admit that it tends to get thick after a while, but that's fixed with a few drops of thinner.

What's your favorite white creme? Do you wear it alone, or only as a base for nailart?

OCC Blackboard

Hi all!

A couple of months ago, a lovely NB'er contacted me on MUA and asked if I would like to swap. Of course I would! We both became a little enthousiastic and sent a lot of polish to the other side of the ocean. Unfortunately, the part of the swap that was supposed to arrive in The Netherlands at my address, stranded at customs and was sent back to my swappee after 2 months laying there. Thank god she received them back and she has been so kind to send them in little batches so the polishes will finally be mine!

I got the first package in last week and it contained several of my biggest lemmings, like this beauty. I've been lemming OCC Blackboard ever since I saw Scrangie's swatches but I couldn't get a hold of it since OCC couldn't ship polish overseas. But finally, after loooong looooong months, this baby is mine and I love it!

Err, anyway, let's take a look at zeh prettieh!

OCC Blackboard, two coats in daylight and under my desk lamp (second picture). Blackboard is a gorgeous chalkboard green, slightly dusty creme. Ooooh I love it! It reminds me of school when I was little lol.

Application was great! It almost applied itself and since the polish is so pigmented it's almost a onecoater. If I used a thicker coat, I'm sure I wouldn't have needed the second coat. Drying time was great, dry in just a couple of minutes, without the use of a quickdry topcoat.

OCC Blacboard stamped with imageplate S10 and Konad white. This polish was just screaming for some white stamping to create the illusion of drawings on it with chalk. I love it! Blackboard certainly didn't disappoint me after lemming it for so long :)

Lace Illusion

Hi all!

While browsing, I stumbled on a design on the Orly website. It's called 'animal' - although I don't know where the animal reference comes from - and it can be found here. I decided to copy the idea with a couple of changes :) Let's take a look!

I used H&M Love At First Sight as a base, which is opaque in two coats. I randomly placed black scribbles with China Glaze Ink (I need to get myself a bottle of black creme.. Grr) and scribbled a little more with RBL Stormy. In the original design, lace was places on top of the scribbly look, but since I don't have any lace to put on my nails, I decided to go with Konad imageplate M57. I stamped the image with Konad special polish in Black Pearl and voila!

I really love the look of this and I think I will do this again to wear it as a full manicure. Maybe I can even try this with slightly different colors, but I think you'd better not go with colors that are too bright..

Paint Splatters Everywhere

Hi all!

Today I have something for you that I LOVE so much that I can't make myself to take it off.

Two coats of H&M Love At First Sight, a white creme, stamped with China Glaze Joy, Harmony, Cherish and Adore with Konad imageplate M21. The Romantiques are awesome for stamping and their contrast with the white base is great. I stamped the splatters randomly on my nails, trying to do a variety in colors on my nails.

The Romantiques are really colorful and the combination of these with Love At First Sight makes me stare at my hands all the time. I feel a bit silly about this haha.

Go Holland! A World Cup Inspired Manicure

Hi all!

In a little over an hour, The Netherlands will play their first World Cup match! They're playing against Denmark and to support them a little, I decided to do a World Cup Inspired manicure.

Hup Holland Hup! Lol! I used China Glaze Breakin' for the orange on my nails. Breakin' is opaque in three coats and has a subtle shimmer. For the Dutch Flag I used Essence Hot Red, BarryM Matt White and OPI Dating a Royal. The latter is darker irl.

And because I like this.. A couple more pics!


The last two pictures were taken with my "Grote Beesie", one of the World Cup mascottes that Albert Heijn (a supermarket) is giving away when you buy a certain amount of groceries. I really like mine!

Models Own True Blue

Vandaag de tweede lak uit mijn Models Own pakketje: True Blue.

Today I have the second polish from my Models Own package: True Blue.

True Blue, twee laagjes met topcoat David in zonlicht. Dit is een rijke blauw en doet me denken aan OPI's Dating a Royal. Deze heb ik zelf niet, maar afgaande op de foto's die ik gezien heb, zal ze misschien net een tintje afwijken. Ze is erg mooi en in twee laagjes dekkend. Applicatie was prima! Twee laagjes zonder problemen, droogtijd was goed.

True Blue, two coats with topcoat David in sunlight. This is a rich and royal blue and she reminds me of OPI's Dating a Royal. I don't own her myself, but judging on the pictures I've seen of Dating a Royal, she might be just a little different, but not much. This is one very pretty blue polish! Opaque in two coats. Application was fine and dryingtime was good, I didn't have any problems with applying the polish.


Wat doe je als er buiten eindelijk geen wolken meer zijn, maar alleen zon? Juist, dan stempel je wolken op je nagels! Ik heb Konad Special Polish White gebruikt en plate M79. Op dit moment mijn favoriete plate!

So what do you do when you finally see only sunshine and no clouds? Yes, you stamp some clouds on your blue mani! I used Konad Special Polish White and imageplate M79. This is my favorite plate at the moment!

NOTD 3rd of November

This was my NOTD for almost 5 days! I loved it so much I actually felt a bit sad when I took it off. It still looked perfect on the last day of wear.



Orly Pixie Dust met witte Konad stempellak. Ik heb imageplate m57 gebruikt, een glitter striper en stickertjes die ik bij mijn bestelling van veelsieraden kreeg :)

This is Orly Pixie Dust (which is one of my faves!) with white Konad stampingpolish. I used imageplate m57, a glittery striper and nail stickers which I got with my order at veelsieraden.

Pixie Dust looks gorgeous on it's own but this gave it just something extra.

Stars in Space!

Op 8 december lagen de lakjes van P2 die Kirsten had meegenomen uit Duitsland bij me in de bus. Ze waren allemaal prachtig, maar er was een lakje dat een geval apart was: P2 Spacy.




Spacy is een donkergrijze metallic lak met hele subtiele lichtgrijze shimmer. De lak is dekkend in twee laagjes. Op de foto draag ik geen topcoat. Hoewel ik bij andere lakken nogal moest wennen aan het feit dat ze zo donker waren voor mijn doen, vond ik deze gelijk geweldig!

English: P2 Spacy is a dark grey metallic polish with a very subtle light grey shimmer. The polish is opaque in two coats. I love this color!

Omdat ik vanavond een etentje heb, leek het me leuk om er iets meer mee te doen dan alleen maar een kleurtje op de nagels.




Nog steeds spacy, maar met sterretjes voor een extra dimensie. Voor het stempelen heb ik imageplate M3 gebruikt en als stempellakken Konad White en China Glaze Millenium. Op mijn duim heb ik een sterretje van de hobbywinkel geplakt.

English: Still spacy, but a little more dimension with these stars. For stamping I used imageplate M3. Stampingpolishes were Konad White and China Glaze Millenium. On my thumb I've got a little star which I got from the craftstore.
