Stampabilities # 016: Catrice

Hi all,

This post is a little late because of the holidays - I didn't want to spend my Christmas preparing posts! :) It's here though with this week's brand - Catrice.

stampabilities catrice run forest run hip queens wear blue jeans i scream peach absolutely chinchilly nail polish stamping nailswatchesAs you can see, they all show up pretty nicely! They're all really pigmented so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they work so well for stamping, but I still am surprised to see how many polishes work for stamping! These are no exeption. The darker colors show up best, because they're dark, but the light colors will also show up on darker base colors.

So tell me, how was your Christmas weekend? Mine was mainly packed with food - my uncle (who is a cook, btw) prepared 6 delicious courses on Saturday which nearly made me explode because it was all so yummy. My parents gave me (among other things) a box packed with cosmetics - and polishes, but I don't think I will use those since I nearly fainted from the smell of them. We had a Twilight DVD marathon on Boxing Day because my sister gave me the Eclipse DVD as a Christmas present (Love it!)! For dinner, we had/did/ate gourmet (I have no clue what you do with this in English lol) so to be honest.. I'm still full ;) Let me know what you did this Christmas! It's always fun how other people celebrate (if you do, of course).

If you have suggestions for the upcoming editions of Stampabilities, please let me know! You can leave a comment on this post, but you can also send me an email.

Christmas Sweater

Hi all,

First up: I've filed my nails down recently so you may see different lengths of nails in the next couple of weeks, because I still have a ton to post that's not Christmas related. Just so you know my nails don't grow 5 mm a night! This manicure is done with Christmas colors green and gold, but has no holiday design. I think it looks like a Christmas sweater though!

(review on this one will come next week :)). 2030 is the perfect gold stamping polish and although I'm not really a big gold fan, I love this for stamping. It gives a crisp and shiny look to the design!

I like this look, but it won't be my Christmas manicure, that's one thing I know for sure. What it will be.. I have no idea yet! And Christmas is so close..

Thanks for stopping by :)

Dark and Cloudy Konadicure.. Sort Of

Hi all,

Today I have a Konadicure for you that I did a while back and this one gives me a dark and cloudy feeling..

konadicure m60 stamping catrice absolutely chinchilly! wet n wild black creme nail polish nailswatchesCatrice Absolutely Chinchilly! stamped with Wet n Wild Black Creme and imageplate M60. The color combination gives me a very sad feeling, like pooring rain out of dark clouds.. I think it's the color combination. It's somehow making me sad! I've never had that before.. Weird, eh?

I don't think this is a konadicure I will redo in the future ;)

The OPI Damone Roberts 1968 giveaway is now closed! The winner will be announced later this week.

To Top It All Off..

Hi all,

Today I have some different 'toppers' for you that I played a bit with a while ago.. I hope it may be helpful to (some of) you :)

From left to right: CND Jade Sparkle, CND Copper Shimmer, CND Teal Sparkle and Catrice Matt Topcoat over Catrice Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans!. I played a little to see how it would work out and this was the result! I actually like all of them over this pretty blue..

I really want to get a ton more of the CND Effects, I love them all! They just turn your polish into something even prettier, it's awesome. Maybe I'll give myself some Effects for Christmas... ;)

Stampabilities is a little late this week, but I'll make sure I'll have it up on Wednesday!

Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly!

Hi all,

Today I have one of the new Catrice colors for you: Absolutely Chinchilly! I posted earlier about this color in a comparison post, where I showed you that it's a dupe for Essie Chinchilly. Here is a full review on Absolutely Chinchilly! today.

catrice absolutely chinchilly new color 2010 dupe essie chinchilly nail polish nailswatchesCatrice Absolutely Chinchilly!, three coats under artificial light. The sun was giving weird colors, so I took this pic under my desk lamp, but the color is exactly how it looks on my nails. Absolutely Chinchilly! is a khaki creme. This color is a dupe for Essie Chinchilly, making it an affordable replacement if you're in The Netherlands! Essie costs € 13,95 a bottle here I believe, so it's an easy choice if Catrice is only € 2,49 a bottle!

The application was smooth and easy, unlike Essie's version. I prefer Catrice over Essie in this case. It takes three coats for opacity, but the polish is easy to apply so I didn't mind doing another coat.

I don't like the color though. Like what I had with Essie Chinchilly, it brings out the red in my skin, giving me slight lobster claws. The color just doesn't work with my skintone, unfortunately!

Bottom line: if you liked Essie Chinchilly, you'll definately like this one, too, but if you own one, you won't need the other.

Matte Hidden Treasure

Hi all,

A couple of days ago, I showed you Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and I decided to do something different, so I pulled out my matte topcoat!

Isn't that amazing? I thought I was going to love the shiny version more, but I definitely like the matte version better.

A full review on Catrice Matt Top Coat will follow in the next couple of weeks :)

New Catrice Polishes and a Comparison

Hi all!

I wanted to show you the new polishes from Catrice that they generously gave to me for consideration. I got Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! and Absolutely Chinchilly! I swatched them both on nailwheels as well as a comparison between Absolutely Chinchilly! and Essie Chinchilly. I still owe you the real on the nails swatches, don't worry, they're coming!

catrice hip queens wear blue jeans 350 blue shimmer blue flecks absolutely chinchilly khaki creme nail polish nailswatches new collection 2010 catriceLeft Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly! and Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! on the right. Absolutely Chinchilly! is a khaki creme and both the color and the name really remind me of Essie Chinchilly, the comparison between these two is below :) Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! is a gorgeous slighly dusty blue with tiny light blue glitter flecks in it. The color is darker in low light, making it appear like a dark blue creme.

So.. Here's the comparison I promised!

catrice absolutely chinchilly! comparison essie chinchilly khaki creme nail polish nails nailswatches catrice new collection 2010 previewEssie Chinchilly on the left, Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly! on the right, both are two coats. I have to tell you beforehand that my picture makes the difference appear to be more obvious, but it's hardly noticeable irl! Chinchilly is the tiniest amount of a shade lighter, but I can only see that when I'm looking at the wheel right under my nose, so to say. When I take more distance, let's say 15 - 20 cm, the difference is not visible at all.

I prefer the application of Catrice, since the brush is wider and makes it easier to apply the polish. Also, Catrice is thicker in formula, while Essie's formula is on the thin side.

Catrice made an affordable dupe for Essie Chinchilly! While Essie retails for € 13,49 a bottle, Catrice only costs a fraction of the price - € 2,49 a bottle.

Catrice Bronzed Brown

Hi all!

Today I have a polish for you from the Caramé collection that Catrice recently released. I picked up only one of the colors since I don't think I will be wearing the other colors.. I picked up Bronzed Brown and I don't regret it :)

catrice caramé carame limited edition brown bronzed brown nailswatches shimmerCatrice Bronzed Brown, two coats in daylight. The color is slightly darker (more accurate in the next picture). Bronzed Brown is a gorgeous medium brown with bronze shimmer.

I needed only two coats for opacity and they went on very smoothly. Catrice has quite a nice brush so it's easy to work with. Drying time was good.

I thought my nails matched pretty nicely with my outfit a couple of days ago :)

Catrice can be bought at Kruidvat stores in The Netherlands and they cost € 2,49 a bottle (8ml).

Comparison Wednesday

Hi all!

I've had a couple of requests for comparisons and I found some polishes in my stash that were a lot alike, so Comparison Wednesday it is! I apologize for the variety in backgrounds, but some colors wouldn't be accurate on a white background and some didn't like the black background. I did the best I could with it since lighting wasn't really coorperating either..

Anyway, I have no less than four comparisons for you today! Here's a little overview.

comparison rbl no more war nmw pieces it's a camouflage creme essie mink muffs taupe orly prince charming nailswatches shimmer nfu oh 117 color club electronica purple htf hard to find opi dating a royal medium blue jelly creme essie mesmerize dirty sexy money dsm misa slate green catrice i sea you dupes comp dupe swatch nailwheel nailswatchesSome colors are way darker irl, but again, that's due to the background..

misa dirty sexy money dsm catrice i sea you slate green comparison creme hard to find htf nailswatchesLeft Misa Dirty Sexy Money, right Catrice I Sea You! The colors are a little too dark, but you can see that they're pretty much identical. Dirty Sexy Money is a tad bit more blue, but I don't think you could tell these apart when I wore them together as a mani.

color club electronica nfu oh 117 purple shimmer dupe comparison nailswatchesLeft Color Club Electronica, right Nfu Oh 117. Both are deep purples with red and blue shimmer particles, but Electronica is a bit darker so I'd say these are no dupes of eachother. They are siblings though, so if you own one of these two, you probably won't need the other.

essie mesmerize opi dating a royal dar blue jelly nailswatches comparison dupe dupesLeft OPI Dating A Royal and Essie Mesmerize on the right. I would call both of them medium blues, but they are no dupes. I've read somewhere that these are deadon dupes, but they're obviously not. Dating A Royal is more intense, colorwise, than Mesmerize. The latter is a bit brighter. No, these are not dupes. If you're not really into blues, you probably won't need both though.

essie mink muffs orly prince charming taupe comparison dupe dupes nailswatches brown cremes cremeThis one is not as faded and light as my picture let's it appear, but I couldn't get a proper shot. I will try again later this week and add a better picture when I managed to take a more accurate picture.. Anyway, left is Orly Prince Charming and right is Essie Mink Muffs. Both are taup-ey cremes, but Mink Muffs is more pigmented and is warmer than Prince Charming. Mink Muffs and Prince Charming are not dupes of eachother.

rbl rescue beauty lounge no more war nmw army green pieces it's a camouflage dupe dupes comparison nailswatchesLeft RBL No More War, right Pieces It's a Camouflage. They are both in the army green category, but that's all they have alike. No More War is way darker and greener than It's a Camouflage so no dupes here either.

I hope this was helpful :) Again, if you have suggestions for a comparison, please let me know and I'll see if I can do one for you!

Thanks for stopping by!

Readers Requests: Comparisons

Hi all!

There were a couple of people asking for comparisons, so here they are! If you would like to see another comparison, please let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

opi jade is the new black essence in the jungle essie lilacism illamasqua wink catrice clay-ton my hero essie chinchilly comparison nail polish
All the comparisons lined up on the nailwheel :)

First up, I was asked to do a comparison between Essie Chinchilly and Catrice Clay-ton My Hero.

essie chinchilly clay-ton my hero catrice comparison nail polishLeft Essie Chinchilly, right Catrice Clay-ton My Hero. As you can see, these aren't similar at all. Chinchilly is a khaki creme, while Clayton My Hero is a lighter sort of khaki, almost sandy brown, that holds golden shimmer. These are not dupes.

Next up are Essence In The Jungle (from the Show Your Feet line) and OPI Jade Is The New Black. In The Jungle is supposed to be a dupe for Jade Is The New Black, as I've seen on various boards.

opi jade is the new black green creme essence show your feet in the jungle comparison nail polish Left Essence In The Jungle, Right OPI Jade Is The New Black. The biggest difference is the finish that the polishes have; Jade Is The New Black dries completely smooth and shiny, while In The Jungle dries a bit weird; it's not satin, but it's not shiny either. It looks a bit bumpy, but it's not when you feel the polish. Besides that, In The Jungle is a little bit more blue and less dusty than OPI Jade Is The New Black. These two are not dupes.

Last but not least I have a comparison between Essie Lilacism and Illamasqua Wink for you.

Essie lilacism illamasqua wink lilac creme comparison nail polishLeft Essie Lilacism, right Illamasqua Wink. Wink and Lilacism are really really close and I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference if it wasn't for the fact that I know which polish is on which side. Both are lilac cremes and similar in opacity. This is two coats on both. The application on Wink is better in my opinion though. These are dupes, so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Illamasqua Wink, I'd recommend getting Essie Lilacism.

A little overview of the comparisons:

I hope this was helpful! If you have any questions about these comparisons or if you have a request for one, please let me know :)

Catrice Lost in Mud

Hi all!

A very quick post today, I'm off to bed.. Have a long (and fun!) day planned for tomorrow :) I know this isn't the best picture (it's rather crappy, to be honest), but this polish had an insane reflection in it and I just saw my own face.. Grr! I will add a better pic when I take one!

Catrice Lost In Mud, three coats in daylight. Lost in Mud is a taupe colored creme that reminds me of OPI You Don't Know Jacques, but I don't own YDKJ so I can't compare the two.. Anyway, application was fine after adding around 10 drops of thinner, since the polish is a bit on the thick side. I really like this color so I think I won't be having trouble to wear it again to take better pics :)

I wish you all a lovely friday!

Catrice London's Weather Forecast

Hi all!

Hope your enjoying your weekend! In The Netherlands, the weather is finally playing along so we went for a long walk. Anyway, today I have one of the new Catrice polishes for you. Catrice just came with a whole new collection that contains about 32 (!!!!) new colors. This is one of them!

London's Weather Forecast, three coats with one coat of SV. LWF is a medium grey polish with blue undertones and silverish shimmer. I like this color a lot, but hey, I like most greys ;)

Application was okay, although I added about 10 drops of thinner before I started polishing. The polish itself was a bit goopy, so the thinner was really needed. The brush is just about the perfect size for me, not too wide or too thin. I did had a tiny amount of bubbling, which is why I used a coat of SV. LWF is shiny enough to go without a topcoat though!

That's it for today, dear reader! I wish you all a wonderful sunday :)

Thanks for stopping by!
