China Glaze The Ten Man

Hi all!

How are you doing today? I have one of the China Glaze Wizard Of Ooh Ahz Returns collection again for you; The Ten Man this time.

china glaze wizard of ooh ahz returns silver the ten man nailswatches nail polish nailpolish swatchChina Glaze The Ten Man, four coats in daylight. The Ten Man is a frosty silver with tiny silver glitters in it. Very interesting finish! The Ten Man is not really my cup of tea since I'm not really into frosts, but I like the twist with the glitters.

Application was a bit tricky. The polish was a bit runny which caused some cuticle flooding. When I saw that, I tried to be more careful and keep more distance between the polish and my cuticle and everything went alright. Opacity isn't that great; four coats to be opaque and I still have some spots where you can see my nail line.

To spice it up, I did a little konad.

It's a pretty subtle konad, which I like :) I'm sorry about the quality of this picture but in my better pictures, the konad didn't show up that well so I decided to go with this one.

What do you think of The Ten Man?

Cowardly Lyin' - And a Leopard Mani

Hi all,

While organizing my helmer, I stumbled onto a lot of polishes that I haven't shown you yet. Today's polish is no exception - I bought the complete China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns collection at the end of 2009. We're talking 6+ months ago! Yikes. And I have only used one of them.. Anyway, this isn't really my color (I bought it loooong before I realized golds are not for me) but I thought I'd show you anyway :)

china glaze cowardly lyin' wizard of ooh ahz returns collection 2009 swatch nailswatchesChina Glaze Cowardly Lyin', four coats in daylight. Cowardly Lyin' is a frosty gold packed with tiny golden glitter. The polish isn't as yellow as my picture shows it, it's a little more 'faded'. I like the idea of this one, however, golds and frosts are not really my thing. Cowardly Lyin' doesn't clash with my skintone as much as most other golds do, so this is good.

Application on this one was good. I needed four coats for opacity (and still VNL in my pics.. Damn you macro!) but all coats dried quickly although it's about 30C around here. Well done China Glaze!

Since this is not really my color, I thought I'd spice it up a bit.. This ain't no coward!

Franken - Aparecium

Hi all,

This will be a short post since I have a lot on my mind right now and I don't really feel like blogging. It will take me some time to get back in the mood, to call it that way. Anyhow, on to pictures of my very first selfmade franken.

Aparecium, two coats in daylight. The color in this picture is not true to life: it's lighter and more dusty. A bit more like in the next pic, actually.

Aparecium, two coats in daylight. Aparecium is a dusty medium purple frosty with multicolored shimmer that you can only see when you're looking at your nails in direct light. The shimmer is red, silver, purple and blue and very pretty to look at.

The name comes from a spell from Harry Potter that forces invisible ink to show. It was an idea of Natasja to name this franken Aparecium and I found it very suitable because of the hidden shimmer. Thanks, Natasja!

The receipe for this one is approx. three quarters of a bottle of Catrice Just Married (light pink shimmer), about a quarter of a bottle of Color Club Electronica and I used China Glaze Ink to darken the color, since I didn't have a black creme to do it with.

A review on the ManGlaze Frankenjuggs will follow in the future :)

Models Own Gun Grey

Hi all!

A relatively short post today! I still have to swatch a few of my Models Own polishes, so here's another one for you :)

Models Own Gun GreyModels Own Gun Grey, two coats in daylight. The name really says it all; it's a gun grey polish. In my eyes, it truly looks like a gun grey polish since it has the perfect color for it and the finish is somewhere between metallic and frost. Only two coats for opacity, but one would have been sufficient if I used a thicker coat.

Models Own polishes are not B3F (toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate free) so this polish smells a bit, but application is fine and drying time was perfect. Models Own polishes can be bought at www.modelsownit.com and they do ship internationally, but please keep in mind they have a GBP 30 minimum for purchase.

Essence Underwater

Hi all!

How are you all doing today? Most of us Dutchies have the day off tomorrow because of Queensday, but still I'm in a hurry! No time to lose, on to Essence Underwater - One of Essences new colors that the lovely Michèle picked up for me when she was at DM in Germany.

Essence Underwater, three coats in daylight. Underwater is a very bright, though not neon, blue frost. You can see the frostiness in the first picture, while the second is more color accurate. Application on this one was fine, no big deals! I was a bit scared of blue colored nails afterwards, but thankfully I didn't have the slightest staining.

Happy Queensday tomorrow all! Don't go out and celebrate too much ;)

H&M Meet Mrs Perfect

Hi all!

Today I have a polish from H&M for you; Meet Mrs Perfect. I don't think the name is fitting, but that's my opinion. On to the pics!

H&M Meet Mrs Perfect, three coats in daylight - no direct light though. Meet Mr Perfect is a relatively dark pink that leans to magenta. It has a unusual finish; it's not entirely frosty and I can see a pearl finish as well as some very subtle shimmer. It's one of my weak spots, pink. But it turns out, I don't like this color! It's missing something, but I have no idea what. Application was ok, although the formula was a little too watery for my liking. Drying time was ok as well. I expected more of this polish when I bought it. Too bad, but you can't have everything, right?

I want to wish you all a very happy Easter and a lovely weekend as well. I won't be able to post tomorrow, so I'll be most likely to update again on monday. I hope to see you all again then!

Essence Go Snow Collection

Today I have the Essence Go Snow Collection for you. This is a limited edition collection and is available at some Dutch and German drugstores.

Snow bunny, drie laagjes in daglicht.

Snow Bunny, three coats in daylight. This is a babypink with frosty finish. Opacity is ok with this one.

essence frostbite purple shimmer sheer frost frosty nail polish nailswatches
Frostbite, drie laagjes in daglicht.

Frostbite, three coats in daylight. I don't see anything of the purple that I see in the bottle when I put it on my nails. I only see a hint of light pink. The finish is somewhat different: frosty with shimmer and microglitters. I have no other polishes in my collection that has such a finish.

Essence Alpine Snow blue sheer frost frosty shimmer nail polish nailswatches
Alpine Snow, drie laagjes in daglicht.
Alpine Snow, three coats in daylight. This is still not even near opacity after three coats. The finish is the same as with frostbite: frosty with shimmer and microglitter.

I couldn't even do cleaup on my nails since the polish wouldn't dry. I tried to do cleanup with snow bunny, but it was still so wet that I took off some of the polish on my cleanup brush.

Overall I think the colors are nice. They're cute soft colors, but not entirely unique. I do see myself wear Snowbunny though. Drying time is waaaay to long. When I was done swatching, I could whipe the polish right off my nail, without remover! Frost bite and Alpine snow had the worst application. It looks messy on my nails, as if I dropped a drop of polish on my nail and forgot to even things out. It's a cute collection, but not a musthave. Most people will find it boring, and I do agree. After the Moonlight Collection we've had before this limited edition, I think this is just too sweet, cute and not as 'daring' as the previous collection. Due to the loooooong drying time, I'd say you'd better skip this collection.

Are You Ready To Go To This Fancy Party?

Tonight I'm posting the last two polishes that came in the Ciaté winter pack; Velvet Tuxedo and Cocktail Dress. These aren't my least favorite polishes of the bunch, on the contrary.. I feel like I saved the best for last.

Cocktail Dress is a pinkish red or a pink that strongly leans towards red. I really have no clue how to call this color, but I think it's fascinating. This is three coats, no topcoat. She would be opaque in two coats, but I had some polish underneath my tips. I worde Iron Butterfly before I started swatching and, well, Iron Butterfly didn't want to go from underneath my tips. The polish being opaque in three coats is my fault, not from the polish itself. I posted three pictures because Cocktail Dress is one tough cookie to capture. I think the second picture is most coloraccurate, but it still is slightly off. Cocktail Dress is a happy, somewhat heavy color, but certainly no neon or nearly neon polish. This polish is gonna look lovely in the summer!

I adjusted the settings of one of the pictures a little so it's more coloraccurate. It's brighter than this picture, but colorwise it looks the same!

Velvet Tuxedo is a dark grey polish with shimmer and a slightly frosty finish. This is two coats, no topcoat. Velvet Tuxedo is a bit brush strokey. Application was as good as with the other polishes and drying time was good. I really like this one. I'm really digging the dark polishes so this one is no exeption. Velvet Tuxedo looks dupish to P2 Spacy though. I will do a comparison soon :).

So here's what I think of all eight polishes! I loved most of them, with the exeption of Ladylike Luxe, since she didn't look good on me. I really loved the colors; they were well pigmented. All polishes were opaque in two coats. Application was good with all of these, only Ladylike Luxe gave a bit of problem since she didn't dry too well. I really like all of them and to be honest, I didn't think they'd be as good as they are. I didn't hear of the brand until I read about Ciaté on MUA and placed my first order. I'm glad I did!

Thank you for reading all of my posts about Ciaté. What do you think of Cocktail Dress and Velvet Tuxedo? Did you like the polishes in the winter pack?

Thanks for stopping by!

PS: I'm getting really frustrated with Blogger atm since uploading won't work in the way I want it to. It keeps rotating my images and I don't like that! I will contact Blogger to solve the problem. I'm sorry for the rotated pictures!

Funky French Gone Bad!

So yesterday I put on Coconut Kiss and it's gorgeous, but I felt like doing my first funky french ever (really!).

To do my funky french, I used Essence french tips stickers and China Glaze Hamony. You put the stickers on your nails, so you can paint a 'line' on the tip of your nails. On the left, all went well and looked like on the next picture.

China Glaze Coconut Kiss Harmony Funky French nailart french stickers guidelines purple frost nailswatches
This is all pre-cleanup.

So, on to the right hand! I did exactly the same thing as I did on the left, but the stickers didn't like to be taken off so they decided to stay put. This resulted in stickers that stayed on my nails, like paper on wet polish or something. The picture was taken after removing all sticker stuff..

Funky French gone bad nailart china glaze coconut kiss harmony french stickers guidelines purple frost nailswatches

Because I had no time to do my nails all over again, I solved my problem like this: I put a little Coconut Kiss on the spots that were really bad and almost showing my nails so it won't be lumpy. Next I put a coat of China Glaze Carnival Lights on it. This polish rocks, it's really underestimated! Now you can't see that I ruined my mani and I actually like this so much that I want to keep it on..

It looks like there is a giant smudge on my ringfinger but that's a case of bad lighting..

China Glaze Coconut Kiss

So I hope you all had a great Christmas! I know I did :)

So today I'm wearing one of the polishes that came in with my mega order last month: China Glaze Coconut Kiss. This is a purple polish that leans to red. It really glows on your nails! I can't stop looking at it..

China Glaze Coconut Kiss Purple Nail Polish Fiji Fling collection nailswatches

So imagine this to be leaning towards red instead of the blurple my picture is showing you. My camera doesn't like purple so it decided to show you this instead. I can't get a better picture than this, sorry! The color is the same as you can see in the bottle (irl, obviously). Drying time is quite long, but nothing a quickdry topcoat wouldn't fix :). I love the color, this really is one of my more interesting purples.

China Glaze Coconut Kiss Purple Nail Polish
I gave it one last shot, and it worked! This is waaaay more color accurate than the first picture. The first picture shows the 'glowing' of the polish better though!

Thanks for stopping by!
