Barielle Konad Overload

Hi all,

While I was browsing through my nail folder, I found this overload of stamping with Barielle colors. I like the purple and the green together, but I think the blue blew it all overboard whehehe.

I wish you all a very nice weekend :)

I will be working on the giveaway winner tomorrow - I'll ask my sister to pick a winner from all of the entries after I'm done checking and sorting them :)

Snakelike

Hi all!

A week ago, I showed you Kinetics Darkside, a medium grey creme. I thought it looked a bit 'off' in August, so I played a little with other colors on top of it to bring it alive. I decided to do another kind of Lace Illusion, only now I know the intention is to make it look like a snake, I tried a couple of different colors.

I have to admit that I think it looks better when you take a bit of distance to look at the design :)

orly animal design snake skin nails nailpolish nailswatches nailartDo you agree? I think I like the previous version better since it's a little calmer, but I do like this one too. It's a bit different, and I like that. The reddish tone of Foxy Lady contrasts with Darkside so that's nice :)

What do you think?

Lace Illusion

Hi all!

While browsing, I stumbled on a design on the Orly website. It's called 'animal' - although I don't know where the animal reference comes from - and it can be found here. I decided to copy the idea with a couple of changes :) Let's take a look!

lace illusion stamping konad konadicure nailswatches orly idea imageplate m57I used H&M Love At First Sight as a base, which is opaque in two coats. I randomly placed black scribbles with China Glaze Ink (I need to get myself a bottle of black creme.. Grr) and scribbled a little more with RBL Stormy. In the original design, lace was places on top of the scribbly look, but since I don't have any lace to put on my nails, I decided to go with Konad imageplate M57. I stamped the image with Konad special polish in Black Pearl and voila!

lace illusion stamping konad konadicure nailswatches orly idea imageplate m57I really love the look of this and I think I will do this again to wear it as a full manicure. Maybe I can even try this with slightly different colors, but I think you'd better not go with colors that are too bright..

Cowardly Lyin' - And a Leopard Mani

Hi all,

While organizing my helmer, I stumbled onto a lot of polishes that I haven't shown you yet. Today's polish is no exception - I bought the complete China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns collection at the end of 2009. We're talking 6+ months ago! Yikes. And I have only used one of them.. Anyway, this isn't really my color (I bought it loooong before I realized golds are not for me) but I thought I'd show you anyway :)

china glaze cowardly lyin' wizard of ooh ahz returns collection 2009 swatch nailswatchesChina Glaze Cowardly Lyin', four coats in daylight. Cowardly Lyin' is a frosty gold packed with tiny golden glitter. The polish isn't as yellow as my picture shows it, it's a little more 'faded'. I like the idea of this one, however, golds and frosts are not really my thing. Cowardly Lyin' doesn't clash with my skintone as much as most other golds do, so this is good.

Application on this one was good. I needed four coats for opacity (and still VNL in my pics.. Damn you macro!) but all coats dried quickly although it's about 30C around here. Well done China Glaze!

Since this is not really my color, I thought I'd spice it up a bit.. This ain't no coward!

I think it looks alright :) I'm not really into the whole leopard print thing, but I think this looks quite nice.

Too Much Contrast..

Hi all,

A quickie today since I feel horrible and want to go to bed as soon as possible. I lost my job today and it was a real shocker when my boss told me. Tomorrow will be my last day and I will be officially unemployed as of monday.. *sigh*

Anyway, on to nails, because that's what this blog is about :) After yesterdays Lemon Fizz mani, I decided to do some stamping. I chose a design that I never use - the leopard design. I think I went a little overboard.

China Glaze Lemon Fizz with Nubar Diamont, stamped with Konad Special Polish in Black Pearl and imageplates M57 (ring finger) and M81 (other fingers). I thought it would make a nice combination, but the yellow is just to light and pastel to work with such a dark color. The contrast is too big. I decided to show you anyway because I don't see these plates too often on other blogs :)

Are You Ready For Spring?

Hi all!

We were having a theme on a Dutch board and the theme was "Spring nails". I thought it would be fun to post my mani's here as well :). I posted the cloud mani and the ladybird mani (that I did earlier) on there as well. Here are some pics to bring you in the spring mood!

I used Essence Date Me! from the Cute as Hell collection as a base color. For stamping I used imageplate M78 and China Glaze Cherish, Adore and QT.

This was my favorite out of the bunch! There's a whole list of all that I used for this one: I used OPI Suzi Says Feng Sui as a basecolor with China Glaze Entourage as the color for the grass. I used Diamont in between to make sure this was dry when I started stamping. I used Konad Red and Pink for the flowers and some of the butterflies, Konad Black Pearl for the rabbit and Konad White for the clouds. I used China Glaze QT and Harmony for the butterflies and one of the flowers. The birds in the sky on my pinky were done with China Glaze Ink. I used imageplates M30 (rabbit), M36 (butterflies), M57 (flowers) and M79 (clouds) to stamp with. I really like how this one turned out. It looks so cute!

Are you looking forward to spring as much as I do? No more snow! We want sunshine..

Today I have some golden swatches for you! Gold isn't really my color but I didn't realize that when I bought these. I thought that if it looked good on Scrangie, it would look good on me too. Guess again :P

la girl rockstar live on stage gold glitter gritty nail polish nailswatches
LA Girl Live on stage, drie laagjes zonder topcoat.

LA Girl Live on stage, three coats without topcoat. She may be a looking a little bobbly in the picture, but it isn't too bad irl. Live on Stage is a pale gold with various sizes of holo and non holo glitters. She doesn't clash with my skintone too bad, I think I actually like this in some way. It will not be my favorite, though.

LA Girl rockstar nail polish nailswatches electric guitar gold
LA Girl Electric Guitar, vier laagjes. Mijn hemel..

Oh my.. This really doesn't play nicely with my skintone. Electric Guitar is a warmer golden shimmer with microglitter and chunky holo glitter. She's not even a bit bumpy, the polish is completely smooth. The color though.. Oh my, I really don't like this one.

Color Club Wild and Willing, drie laagjes.

Color Club Wild and Willing, three coats. This one just *needs* three pictures because she is so cool! I call this gold, but in some lightings it's more of a copper kinda color. The polish itself is a shimmer with a slight duochrome flash to brown. See the different colors in the last picture? Gorgeous! Look at the awesome shimmeryness! I can't believe she was still in my untrieds. I'm so glad I discovered her again!

And what's swatching without a little Konad? Since I got my new plates in, last week, I started to do a lot more Konad again. This is plate M57 and for stamping I used Konad Special Polish Black Pearl. I think it looks good! What do you think?

Last, but certainly not least; there's a new Dutch blog about nails! Be sure to check out Michelle's blog at The Lacquer Files!

NOTD 3rd of November

This was my NOTD for almost 5 days! I loved it so much I actually felt a bit sad when I took it off. It still looked perfect on the last day of wear.

Orly Pixie Dust Grey Glass Flecked Shimmer Nail Polish Konad Konadicure Imageplate M57 Konad White polish nailart once upon a time collection fall 2009 liner striper nailswatches

This is Orly Pixie Dust (which is one of my faves!) with white Konad stampingpolish. I used imageplate m57, a glittery striper and nail stickers which I got with my order at veelsieraden.

Pixie Dust looks gorgeous on it's own but this gave it just something extra.
