Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe

Almost Christmas! Squeeeee!! Are you as excited as I am?

BTW: I just discovered a pattern in my last posts - there's a lot of green. Sorry about that, but I just love green.. Especially with Christmas. Anyway, this green shot right to my number one green spot, beating China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle and OCC Blackboard. Yes, even Blackboard. This polish is amazing. I'm sure you've seen her a gazillion times already, but she deserves more pics. So here she is: Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe (MMutM).


Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe, three coats in daylight. MMutM is a gorgeous green packed with glass flecks. Let me tell you: my pictures don't do her justice! She's even prettier irl and I couldn't help staring at my nails.


Application on MMutM was great - quick and easy and the polish dried quickly. I've mentioned it a gazillion times before, but I really love the rubber caps that Orly does. It makes it easy to handle the wand of the polish :)


Awesomeness! This closeup just says it all. Pretty. Gorgeous. Glass flecks. Beautiful. Stunning. Should I continue?

CND Teal Sparkle Meets Orly Enchanted Forest

Hi all!

Two weeks ago, I showed you CND Urban Oasis and Teal Sparkle (damn, is it two weeks ago already?). I started trying Teal Sparkle over several different polishes, and today I want to share one of my favorites with you :)


CND Teal Sparkle over two coats of Orly Enchanted Forest. This was so pretty that I kept it on for four days (I wanted to try more layering thingies).


Teal Sparkle is a gorgeous effect that works really well with Enchanted Forest - a very pretty forest green. I really love the effect - the flecks in Teal Sparkle reflect mostly green in various shades, but also blue and gold.


Bonus closeup pic! I couldn't stop staring at my nails. I put my nails under my desk lamp all the time to see the effect and admire the prettyness..

I think you will see a ton more of these layering combinations in the future, hehe. If you have layering suggestions for CND effects, please tell me!

Ulta Tainted Love

Ulta Tainted Love, three coats, in indirect sunlight. Tainted Love is a gorgeous (!!!) green with tons of glitter chunks in it, both green and gold. I tried to pick pictures in which it showed up, and I think it does a little bit on the pinkienail. This polish is so awesome. I couldn't stop staring when I wore it.

This immediately brings me to the following question: Is there a full size bottle? Or a dupe? If so, let me know!!


Application was good. It takes a bit to handle the brush since the handle is so short, but the brush itself is nice and a bit wide so the polish is easy to apply.

Dryingtime was good as well, so I don't really have any complaints.. Besides that I don't have enough with the tiny bottle that came in the Glam Goth set!! It looks pretty in the but I was worried that the effect would disappear on the nail - but no such thing so I'm a happy camper! Hehe!

I believe the set was limited edition so I'm not sure if you can find it anymore.. Please let me know if it is!

China Glaze Zombie Zest

It's almost Halloween and I just remembered that I haven't shown you the China Glaze Awakening polishes for Halloween 2010 yet! I will try to show them all before Halloween, so here's the first one: Zombie Zest!

China Glaze Zombie Zest, four coats in daylight. Zombie Zest is a yukky, murky green filled with tons of green and gold glass flecks. I wouldn't necessarily call this a glitter. I needed four coats for opacity, so Zombie Zest is a bit of a sheer Zombie.


Macroshot of this awesome murky greenish baby. I really like these kind of colors atm. I don't know what it is, but these you-love-them-or-you-hate-them ugly colors appeal to me.


Application.. Zombie Zest is on the sheer side, so you need more coats to get full coverage (if you don't want vnl, like me). The polish formula was alright, at some points it was a bit on the thick side, but still runny. Drying time was good despite the amount of coats.

If you want Zombie Zest, don't hold out too long because the Awakening Collection for Halloween 2010 is limited edition. If it's sold out, there are a couple of dupes: SpaRitual Optical Illusion and Orly It's Not Rocket Science. I will post a comparison on the last one soon so you can see how similar they are :)

Orly Royal Navy

Hi all!

How are you doing today? I spent almost my entire evening yesterday with watching X Factor UK haha. Any of you watching as well? Who's your favorite? I've had a thing for Matt ever since his first audition, but yesterday he didn't have his hat on and he was wearing a suit and I actually thought he was pretty hot hehe! Ahem, what was I talking about? Oh, right, nail polish *giggles*.

Orly Royal Navy, three coats in daylight. Royal navy is a gorgeous bright blue jelly with aqua colored glass flecks that are scattered here and there in the polish. I put on three coats and still had obvious visible nail line, which is a bit of a down side for me. Maybe I should have tried a fourth coat, but I left it at this.


In this picture you can clearly see what I mean by scattered glass flecks. They are not evenly defided within the polish, making them pop up randomly on the nail. The contrast is pretty nice!


Application was pretty good, I always have some problems with jellies somehow, maybe it's just my lack of skills hehe. Dryingtime was good.

The color is a little *bright* for me, so that's something to get used to. This is a polish that I actually picked up because everyone was raving about it and I thought I'd give it a shot. It's definitely pretty, only not my kinda color (yet). I'll have to wear it some more to let the shade grow on me! What do you think of Royal Navy? Worth the hype?

Hi all,

Things aren't improving at all and I'm feeling less and less like myself. I feel physically weak on top of it all and I can't handle everything around me at the moment. I feel like I'm about to collapse or something. Somewhere deep within I'm glad that I edited these pictures beforehand so I can put in some nailrelated things in this post besides me complaining about my life. I'm so sorry.

The pictures I have for you today are *again* from a recent NOTD. I have a ton of nailart and swatches somewhere in my folders but I can't put myself to edit them so they'll have to wait.

CND Jade Sparkle over OPI Damone Roberts 1968. I posted about Damone Roberts 1968 and Jade Sparkle, but I didn't put them together till recently. I really like the effect, it gives a little something extra.

Most of the time I see tons of golden glass flecks giving it almost a golden flash or cast, but those show up better in the next two pictures.

Tomorrow Will Be Better.. Right?!

Hi all,

Another quickie. I know I suck, I have tons to do for the blog and I haven't been around on Twitter either. I need to reply to my emails and comments. I suck. I'm having a bad week and it's not getting better, so hopefully things will turn around tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll probably have to stay in bed all day.

Today is another recent NOTD. I pimped Strawberry Fields with one of my newest plates after wearing this baby for four or five days (so excuse any sign of wear you may notice).

China Glaze Strawberry Fields stamped with China Glaze Awaken and imageplate M71. I love the lacey design! It looks so cute.. I can see a whole lot of konadicures with this one in the future.

Anyway, I hope you will forgive me for not being as active as I should/would like to. China Glaze Strawberry Fields

You probably have seen this a gazillion times already, but I got this baby in last week and I wanted to share. I hesitated to get it, since well.. It's pink. I'm not digging pink as much as I used to, so I'm on the fence to buy new pinks. I looked at tons of swatches and decided to give it a try.. And here she is!

China Glaze Strawberry Fields, three coats with one coat of David in sunlight. Strawberry Fields is a gorgeous bold and bright medium pink, packed with tons of golden glass flecks. They are more obvious than my pictures can show you, since SF freaked out my camera (maybe I should get myself another camera, since this one gets scared easily).


The polish was a little watery, but the polish went on evenly so I needed three coats to be opaque. I really like this pink. It's bright and happy and cheerful and I love to look at the golden glass flecks. They really add the 'oomph' to the polish!


About the wear: I wore FS with OPI's Nail Envy as underwear and David as a topcoat and had no chips on the fourth day of wear, only a little tipwear. That's pretty good in my book!

Swatches Of Part Of The Orly Cosmic FX Collection

Hi all!

This morning, I showed you the first of my Orly Cosmic FX's; It's Not Rocket Science. Now I have four of the others for you! Four, you ask? Yes, four. I decided to give Space Cadet a post of it's own to show all her sides to you, so you have to wait a bit for that ;) But til then, meet these four pretties!

Orly Galaxy Girl, two coats in daylight. Galaxy Girl is a rich deep purple plum base with aqua blue glass flecks. This makes a gorgeous contrast! It reminds me of Urban Decay Bruised. Not in terms of being a dupe, but just the fact that they're similar. Only two coats for opacity, so that's great.

Orly Lunar Eclipse, three coats in daylight. Lunar Eclipse is a royal blue base with lighter blue glass flecks and a tiny flash of purple. When I saw the bottle, I thought it would me much more duochrome, but the duochrome effect disappears on the nails. It's a very nice blue though.

Orly Out Of This World, two coats in daylight. Out Of This World is a gorgeous deep glass flecked purple. The bottle shows some duochrome effect, but this disappears almost entirely on the nail. In some lights you can see a little color shifting, but it's almost unnoticable. It has the same feeling as Zoya Mimi, although I would not call these dupes. Mimi is lighter and brighter than Out Of This World.

Orly Haileys Comet, three coats in daylight. Haileys Comet is a glass flecked blue green mermaid color. Well, we've seen this before, haven't we? It's a dupe of Zoya Charla and OPI Catch Me In Your Net. Although Haileys Comet is slightly greener, they're all the same. If you own any of these, you can skip Haileys Comet. I love the color, but it's too bad we now have three of these colors. I love the cap for the application so that's a plus for Hailey, but I have to warn you: this polish stains REALLY bad! Please use at least one coat of basecoat, but I'd recommend using two coats just to be sure.

Application on all of these was good. Some were better in opacity than others, but formula wise I'd say that these were pretty consistent. Again, I love the rubber cap so that's a plus while applying polish as well.

We're missing Space Cadet, but I'll give it the post it deserves somewhere tomorrow. Meanwhile; what do you think of the Orly Cosmic FX Collection till now? What's your favorite?

Orly It's Not Rocket Science

Hi all!

Today I have the first of the Orly Cosmic FX polishes for you! I got them in last week and they all look stunning! I will post the other polishes as soon as I can.

Orly It's Not Rocket Science, three coats in daylight. It's Not Rocket Science is a greenish brown murky base with lighter green and gold-ish glass flecks. It's the kind of murky color that's ugly and pretty at the same time. I love it! I've heard it's a dupe of China Glaze Zombie Zest and SpaRitual Optical Illusion, but I don't own either of them so I can't compare them.

Application was good. The polish went on smoothly without any issues. The structure of the polish is just perfect for my liking; not too thick or too thin. The orly cap makes it easy to apply the polish as well so that helps. Drying time was good, I had no issues while I was a bit worried that it wouldn't dry because I applied three coats without waiting in between coats.

Zoya Sparkles Combined

Hi all!

How are you all doing? I hope you enjoyed the posts that I sceduled for you, since this is the last one that I planned to go up automatically :) My plane lands today so when you're reading this I'm probably somewhere in the air between Spain and The Netherlands lol. I think I'm to tired to do a post when I come back, so I sceduled this one as well. It's a little something I tried out, and it looks kinda pretty in it's own weird way.

Zoya Charla with a coat of matte topcoat, tips of Zoya Ivanka and green studs from Viva La Nails acting like a bridge between the two. It looks a bit odd maybe, but I like it! The sparkliness of Ivanka contrasts nicely with the matte Charla :)

Zoya Mimi

Hi all!

Today I have the last of my Zoya Sparkles for you; Mimi.

Zoya Mimi, three coats in daylight. Mimi is a gorgeous medium purple glass flecked polish. It's a little redder in real life, but I think the color is the best I could do with my camera :)

Application is good, the same as with the other sparkles. The polish is a little thin but easy to work with and the polish dries quickly. Glass flecked Zoya's look lovely when they are mattified, so here we go!

Zoya Mimi, three coats with one coat of Essie Matte About You. Whoa, another winner! I loved the look of Ivanka and Charla when they were mattified and Mimi doesn't disappoint either.

Zoya Charla And Holiday Announcement

Hi all!

Today I have Zoya Charla for you from the Sparkle Collection for 2010. Most people I know think this is the stunner of the collection. I disagree, Ivanka is way prettier in my opinion, but Charla sure is pretty!

Zoya Charla, three coats in daylight. Charla is a blue green glass flecked polish. It flashes a bit of gold and is more green than my pictures show it, but it's really really gorgeous. I am actually wearing this on my toes right now :D

Application is good. The polish is a little on the thin side, so I needed three coats for opacity but my pictures still show a little visible nail line. Drying time is good.

Such a lovely sparkle must be mattified.

Zoya Charla, three coats with one coat of Essie Matte About You in daylight. Whoa, me likey!

I also want to tell you that in exactly 12 hours time, I will be on a plane to Spain. I have prepared posts that will be posted automatically, so you won't have to miss daily posts. OPI Catch Me In Your Net

Hi all,

So today I have OPI's Catch Me In Your Net for you. It's part of the just released Summer Flutter Collection for summer 2010.

OPI Catch Me In Your Net, three coats in daylight. Catch Me In Your Net is a gorgeous blue green glass flecked polish. The polish has a greenish cast over it, instead of looking 'just' a gorgeous blue shade. It's just so.. Stunning!

Application was good, drying time was alright. It dries a little slower than I'm used to with OPI's, but still pretty quick. Catch Me In Your Net is opaque in three coats.

Zoya Nidhi

Hi all!

Is the weather there as good as it is here? It's getting hot and sunny in The Netherlands! Today I have another Zoya Sparkle for you: Zoya Nidhi.

Zoya Nidhi, three coats in daylight. Nidhi is the oddball in the Sparkle Collection; it has a different finish than the other five polishes. It's still super pretty though! Nidhi is a tomato red glass flecked polish with silver, red, lime and yellow particles. This is three coats, but I guess you could go with two coats as well.

Application was as good as the other sparkles. The texture is a bit on the thin side but easy to work with. Drying time was good.

Since I made the other Sparkles matte, here's Nidhi mattified:

Zoya Nidhi, three coats with one coat of Essie Matte About You in daylight. Pretty, but not as pretty as the other sparkles! Please excuse the white chip on my nails, my Matte About You seems to have issues..

And of course I did a little (because I don't want to cover up the prettyness of Nidhi) Konad.

Zoya Nidhi, three coats stamped with imageplate M77 and China Glaze Millennium. It's a little stamp, and I have to say that I like it! I have never used this plate before and I've had it for a while..

What do you think of Nidhi?

Also, I've been working behind the scenes on my blog. You might not see it now, but you will see major changes on my blog in the near future. I've worked on it for the past four or five days, yesterday even over 11 hours to make everything perfect. I think it will keep me off the streets since I want everything perfect, but I hope you will enjoy all the effort I put in it!

China Glaze Blk-Bila-Bong

Hi all!

Have you enjoyed your Queensday? The weather wasn't great but we had a nice day, hope you did too! Today I have China Glaze's Blk-Bila-Bong for you. Blk-Bila-Bong is a part of the 2007 Surf Collection. I managed to get hold of a bottle a couple of months ago and it's about time I show it to you.

China Glaze Blk-Bila-Bong, three coats in daylight. Blk-Bila-Bong is a blue or aqua glass flecked black polish. It's a part of the China Glaze surf collection of 2007 and it was the only dark color in this collection, but it is a true stunner. I believe this color is discontinued; it was not easy getting my hands on this polish. The blue/aqua glass fleck makes this a very interesting and pretty shade to look at. I love dark colors, but I rarely wear black because it's just a little too dark for me. The glass fleck in this is truly gorgeous and this is gonna be a new favorite of mine!

Application was good. The first coat went on a little watery, but all was well in two coats. Of course, I have to deal with macro, so I did three to avoid showing VNL. Dyring time was good as well! It dried pretty quickly, considering I applied three coats.

LA Girl Rockstar Punk

Hi all!

How are you all doing today? I've had a long day due to public transport, but I'm as happy as a 5 year old in a candy store. Why? Because I got my own dot com! You can visit my blog now through www.nailswatches.com. I'm so happy!

Today I have a polish for you that has been in my Helmer since forever. I bought these because I loooooved the swatches I saw, but didn't feel like putting them on. What a shame! So this week I pulled LA Girl Rockstar Punk out of my Helmer.

Note: I broke a nail last weekend, so I filed them all a bit so I wouldn't have a freaky long pinky nail lol. I do have some material with pics in which I still have long nails, so don't be scared, it's just a little time jump!

LA Girl Punk in daylight
LA Girl Punk indoors, three coats. LA Girl Rockstar Punk is a glass flecked slightly duochrome-y blue. The polish is extremely shiny, so you won't need any topcoat for that! The finish is so awesome. Look at it:

So extremely pretty! I don't have any other words for this. And yes, I said it's duochrome! Not too much and only visible in certain angles and lighting, but still there and very pretty. Here are some pics to show you:


Crappy picture, but see? It's purple!! Wheee!!

In the bottle you can clearly see it's both blue and purple. It even flashes a little green in some angles, but this was impossible for me to capture.

As for the application, this was flawless! This is three coats and the polish was just perfect for me in terms of structure. It dried a little slow though, so it could use a quickry topcoat to fix it, but other than that, I'm satisfied!

NOTD 3rd of November

This was my NOTD for almost 5 days! I loved it so much I actually felt a bit sad when I took it off. It still looked perfect on the last day of wear.



Orly Pixie Dust met witte Konad stempellak. Ik heb imageplate m57 gebruikt, een glitter striper en stickertjes die ik bij mijn bestelling van veelsieraden kreeg :)

This is Orly Pixie Dust (which is one of my faves!) with white Konad stampingpolish. I used imageplate m57, a glittery striper and nail stickers which I got with my order at veelsieraden.

Pixie Dust looks gorgeous on it's own but this gave it just something extra.

China Glaze Blue Island-iced Tea
Mooie lak, maar dekt ontzettend slecht. Dit zijn drie of vier laagjes. De kleur is wel echt mooi, hoewel ik de shimmering van de foto's van Scrangie niet echt terug zie.
Very pretty polish, but not very opaque. This is three or four coats. The color is very pretty, but I don't see the shimmering like in the pictures Scrangie took.



China Glaze Grape Juice
Ook weer een niet-dekkende kleur, dit is dacht ik vier laagjes. De kleur is ontzettend mooi, maar ik krijg hem echt niet goed op de foto. Op de ene foto is het te licht, op de andere te donker. Deze twee foto's zijn de beste benadering. Het is een hele intense paarse kleur met een soortgelijke glitter als bij Blue Island. Erg mooi weer!

First in sunlight, next indoors. This is also a color that needs quite a few coats to be opaque. The color is gorgeous but I can't seem to get this right in my pictures. It's a very intense purple color with the same kind of shimmer as Blue Island-Iced Tea has. Very pretty!



OPI Princesses Rule!
Oooooh dit is een gave lak! Ik had hier op Scrangie over gelezen en ze was er weg van, adviseerde iedereen om naar de winkel te rennen en deze ook te kopen. Ik snap wat ze bedoelt! Het is een hele lichtroze lak, wederom slecht dekkend, dit is vier laagjes. Er zitten ontzettend veel glitters in, zo gaaf :D I love this one!!

Oooh this is so pretty! I've red about this one and I really get the whole "Go run to the store and get yourself some Princesses rule! " because it truly is awesome! It's a very sheer, pink glittering polish, this is four coats. This is so sparkly! I love this!


Orly Pixie Dust
Ook dit is weer een ontzettend niet-dekkende lak, net als de rest overigens. Dit zijn drie laagjes. Er is een uitzondering, dat is OPI Mediterranean Moonlight (zie onder). De kleur is echt cementgrijs en de glittertjes zijn erg fijn. Ik vind het een fascinerende kleur!

This is three coats. The color is really looking like concrete and the glitter in it is very subtle. I really like this color, it's fascinating to look at.

OPI My Daddy's The King!
Deze valt me ietsje tegen doordat ik de shimmer van de foto's van Scrangie niet zie, maar misschien moet ik er meer tijd voor nemen om het goed te laten drogen. Een lichtroze lak, beetje peachy ondertoon lijkt wel. Dit is drie laagjes. Wel een mooie kleur though :)

This one is a little disappointing to me because it isn't as shimmery as I expected it to be, but maybe I should give it a little more time so at least it can dry well. This is a light pink polish with a peachy undertone, I really don't know what you call this kind of color. This is three coats.


OPI Got a Date to-knight!
Deze is véél rozer dan ik verwacht had. Dit vind ik de minste van mijn bestelling. Hij is niet lelijk, maar ik had er wat anders van verwacht. Ook dit is weer drie laagjes.
This one is waaaay more pink then I expected it to be. It's the least in my order. It's not ugly or something, but I expected something else, but maybe I'm confused with another polish, I don't know. This is also three coats.


OPI Mediterranean Moonlight
Dit was echt een verassing! Dit is twee laagjes, voor de mooi. Eigenlijk was een laagje wel al voldoende dekking. De kleur is een beetje donker peachyachtig. Mooie subtiele shimmering ook in de lak. I like!

This was a surprise! I added this last to my order, but it's so pretty. This is two coats, but one would have been sufficient. It's a bit of a dark peachy color. Pretty subtle shimmer when you look closely, very pretty.

Gosh, ik was zo enthousiast met al mijn lakjes dat ik ben vergeten te lunchen :$

Overall: mooie lakjes, ben zeer tevreden! De dekking valt een beetje tegen, maargoed dan maar een extra laagje! Maar ménn wat heeft OPI een dikke kwastjes! Eén keer over je nagel heen en het is al voldoende.

Short English summary: Opacity is a little less then I expected of these polishes, but the gorgeous colors make up for that. I just love Princesses rule! and I think everyone should get herself a bottle of this glittering beauty. My favorite OPI polish. I loooove Pixie dust as well, can't stop looking at the grey with suble glitters! It's really fascinating to look at.
