It's Nailswatches' Birthday!

Hi all!

It's exactly a year ago that I went over to Nailswatches on blogger *yaaaay*! Which means that today is Nailswatches' birthday! I can't believe I've lasted a whole year with blogging.. On to the next year! As a treat, hot chocolate with whipped cream for everyone! ;) (or of course chocolate cake... hmm!)

I swear I only used those two colors (over a white base), the colors combined to an almost purple shade in between the colors! I love the outcome of it. It might not be perfect, but it sure is pretty in my eyes.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and buy myself some *real* chocolate cake to celebrate ;) Hope you all have a very nice Friday!

Flounder Marble

Hi all,

Remember Flounder the fish from The Little Mermaid? He was the inspiration for this marble :)

The blue basecolor makes it look like a greenish yellow (that was not my intention). I love how the colors combine!

Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder the little mermaidSee? Flounder is so cute. I don't get why he's called Botje ('Little bone') in the Netherlands tho. (Misschien naar het soort vis, Bot, maar Botje is helemaal geen bot!) The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite childhood movies. I should watch it again sometime soon!

This is one of my favorites so far. I seem to get a hang of it more and I really enjoy doing marbles! The only thing I don't like, is the cleanup afterwards lol!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Frankenstein Watermarble

Hi all!

I didn't really realize that it's almost Halloween, and I still had a ton of things planned! I hope I can squeeze in some more before Halloween :) Today I have a watermarble for you! It's a 'Frankenstein' Watermarble; green and purple.

watermarble green and purple creme nail polish frankenstein opi funky dunkey orly gumdrop nailart nailswatchesFor this marble, I used OPI Funky Dunkey and Orly Gumdrop. The light, pastel green and the purple go really well together! I really like it. It does remind me a bit of some Frankenstein images; there are a ton of them out there with a green and purple thing going on.

Marbles still manage to surprise me, so I'm planning on doing a marble afternoon soon haha.

Are you planning on doing something Halloween-y with your nails? If so, what are you going to do?

Sweet Marble

Hi all,

A presceduled post for today since I won't be having time to upload anything today or tomorrow. It's another marble that I did a while back and I thought it turned out pretty nicely.

They are so cute and happy together. The Orly Sweets are amazing for marbling, since they're very pigmented.

And just because my fingers looked superduperawesome after marbling, I added a pic pre cleanup.

I used the vaseline method this time instead of the tape method, and I found it to be easy to work with: if you apply the vaseline right, you won't have that much of a hassle to take the polish of your fingers.

Crappy Watermarble

Hi all!

Yesterday I was home alone, so I played a bit with polish. I thought I could do a marble with three shades of blue, but after trying multiple times I found out that the shades I used, didn't really work. I decided I could do a marble with some of the Orly Sweets, since my first marble with Lollipop went quite good. I picked Snowcone and Gumdrop, but after marbling, I realized these two are not so much of a watermarble match. See for yourself; my crappy watermarble.

watermarble nailart blue green pastel creme nail polish snowcone gumdrop orly sweet collection spring 2010 nailswatcheswatermarble nailart blue green pastel creme nail polish snowcone gumdrop orly sweet collection spring 2010 nailswatchesWatermarble with Orly Gumdrop and Snowcone. Both colors work well for marbling, but not together. Personally, I think the contrast between these two isn't big enough to make it a successful marble, but I think it doesn't look butt ugly though. I like it when a marble has a bit of an edge, if you know what I mean :)

I had MAJOR issues with bubbeling and I can't see where the bubbles came from. I checked the cup before I dipped my finger in, so I think I must be doing something wrong in the process of having my finger dipped in the cup and cleaning up the excess polish haha. Better luck next time ;) At least I had fun doing it!

My First Watermarble

Hi all!

So today I decided to try something new - well, it was new to me. I've never watermarbled before but it looks so pretty when I see it on nails, so I decided to try it.

I grabbed a plastic cup, room temperature water, a orangewood stick, some paper, tape and of course polish. I picked Orly Lollipop and OPI Funky Dunkey for my first time of marbling. I painted my nails in white polish (H&M Love At First Sight), because I was planning on doing a white/purple marble, but changed my mind. Anyway, this is the result of some watermarbling!

watermarble opi funky dunkey purple orly lollipop creme nailswatches nailart nail polish nailpolishwatermarble opi funky dunkey purple orly lollipop creme nailswatches nailart nail polish nailpolishwatermarble opi funky dunkey purple orly lollipop creme nailswatches nailart nail polish nailpolishI think I did do alright for a first time of watermarbling! The colors play nicely together, it's balanced. I should practice on aiming in the cup though lol!

I've been following Colette's blog - My Simple Little Pleasures for a while now and I love her tutorials. This is the queen of marbling people! I used her method for taping while I was marbling so I wouldn't have to spend ages cleaning up the polish from halfway down my finger.

watermarble opi funky dunkey purple orly lollipop creme nailswatches nailart nail polish nailpolishSee? I could just peel of the tape while I was done. Colette has a great tutorial on the taping as well, so check that out if you don't want to clean up your whole finger afterwards ;) I've heard that oiling with cuticle oil will work too to make your cleanup easier, but since this was my first time, I haven't tried that.

What do you think of my marble?

Thanks for stopping by!
