Happy Birthday To Me! And The Harry Potter Nailart Contest

Hi all!

Yaaaay today's my birthday! *throws confetti and cuts up the cake* and since it's my birthday, I can do whatever I like! *giggles*


I think you know that the Harry Potter series is my favorite series ever, and that I'm a fan. For my birthday I thought it would be fun to host a new nailart contest with the theme of 'Harry Potter'! The idea is to make a design on the nails on your own hand (no wheels or tips please) that has something to do with Harry Potter. You're allowed to do anything that relates to Harry - both the books and the films. You can think of characters, but you can also think of dark creatures, magical sports, Hogwarts or magic in general. Any kind of nailart is allowed, so you can use (for example) acrylic paint, strass, dots, gems, decals, liners, anything you like! Surprise me :D

You can send in two different designs per person. Please email your entries to nailswatches@gmail.com and include the name you want to post me and (if you want) what you used to do this manicure. You can also tell me a little bit about the idea for your design - but keep it short so it won't be a whole lot of text when I'm posting your entries ;)

There is a rule though: you cannot share your design on your blog, twitter, facebook or whatever until I post your entries on my blog. I hope you will respect this, since I would like to have everyones design showed for the first time when the voting begins!

You can submit your entries till September 17th, 2010. I will post your entries after that, so the voting can begin.

I will show bits of the prize along the way ;)

And The Winner Is...

Hi all!

So I finally have the results from the nailart contest! It was a close call, even before this extra voting.. After excluding the votes that were not according to the rules, Michelle's peacock mani and Thriszha's puppy design were on shared first place.

After voting in the last two days, it was only one vote in difference.. And I had to exclude some votes (again!) so it was very tight.. The two designs were so close, the winner only has one vote more than the number two. That's what I'd call close!

Anyway, without further ado, I present to you.. The winner of the first Nailswatches nailart contest!

Ciaté Talent Scout

Hi all!

How are you all today? Today I have one of the new Ciaté polishes for you again: Talent Scout.

Ciaté Talent Scout, two coats under artificial light. Talent Scout is a medium purple creme. It's an easy going color, I don't know how else to describe it. Somehow it calms me a bit.. This is two coats, but it's not completely evened out so I could have used a third coat to smoothen things out a bit.

Application was good. I never really have problems with these Ciaté polishes.. The only thing I wasn't too pleased about is the fact that the polish isn't really smooth, even though it's perfectly opaque in two coats. Drying time was good, so no complaints on that matter!

Nailart Contest News!

Hi all!

It took me a while, but I finished counting the votes in the nailart contest. Unfortunately, there were a lot of votes that I cannot count for the designs, since the people who voted didn't read the rules. The rules are clear, so it's sad that so many votes can't be counted.

Anyway, I counted the votes and it's unbelievable.. But there are two designs with an equal amount of votes! They tie for first place. So, I had a bit of a dilemma. What should I do? Pick the winner myself? Or something else? I decided to let you vote one day for your favorite design. You can only pick between the two designs in this post! The rules are the same as the rules for the earlier voting: You have to be a public follower of my blog through google friend connect, each follower of my blog can vote one time and you can only vote by leaving your comment with this post.

CLOSED The First Nailart Contest at Nailswatches! CLOSED

Hi all!

Well I told you about a contest a couple of days ago, so here it is! I’m launching Nailswatches first Nailart Contest *yay*! I wanted to do some sort of general theme, so I decided not to choose a too specific theme for this contest. The idea of “nailart” as a theme was not enough though.

I decided to do an Animal theme. Think cats, dogs, elephants, sea life and bugs like ants; fluffy animals and scary ones. Everything is allowed! As long as your manicure contains something that relates to animals, you’re good to go :) You can use Konad, you can freehand and you may use nailart items such as studs, glitters and stripingtape; as long as it’s nailart.

The rules are as follows:
- You can submit a maximum of two entries per person. You can email your entries to nailswatches@gmail.com with your name and (if you want) additional info like what you used for your design. Your entries have not been showed on any blog, forum or other source on the internet (I want to show your creations for the first time so please keep them to yourself!). I keep the entries private till I put them on my blog for the voting.

- You do your design(s) on your hand and nails. Entries with pictures made of designs on nailwheels or popsticks (ie not on your own nails) will not qualify.

- You have to follow the theme.

- This contest is open to anyone that lives on planet Earth.

- I will take entries till May 22nd 11.59 GMT +01.00. Later that week, I will put the pictures on my blog, so you can vote your winner. Entering for this contest is now closed.

Yes, you read this correctly, YOU vote the winner. I will install rules for the voting though and I will keep a close eye on the votes that each person gets every day.
