Comparison: Barbie vs Cotton Candy

Index and ring are Cotton Candy, middle and pinkie are Barbie.

While I was at it, I thought I'd do a little comparison between Zoya Barbie and Diamond Cosmetics Cotton Candy. They seemed quite similar when I looked at the bottle of Cotton Candy and Barbie on my nails. They are not the same on the nails. Cotton Candy is quite a lot darker and barbie is more of a 'sweet' color. These are not dupes. Note: I didn't have any sunlight in these pics since it has been snowing for days around here. The color of Barbie is a bit off in comparison to the previous pictures, sorry for that.

Zoya Barbie

Dit is twee laagjes. De structuur van de lak is een beetje stroperig, waardoor lakken vrij lastig was. Dit is twee laagjes, maar naar mijn mening eigenlijk nog net niet dekkend genoeg. Eigenlijk had ik nog een laagje extra moeten doen, maar daar had ik het geduld niet voor aangezien de lak vrij langzaam droogt. Wat ik jammer vind aan deze lak is dat er in het flesje een subtiele shimmer te zien is, die op de nagel helemaal niet naar voren komt. Jammer, want dat had de lak een stuk interessanter gemaakt denk ik.

This is two coats. Application was a bit tricky since the polish was a bit goopy. This is two coats but I think I should have added another coat, since there is too much visible nail line to my liking. I didn't have the patience to put on another since dryingtime was longer than average. The polish shows a very pretty subtle shimmer in the bottle, which don't shows on the nails. Pity!

I'm supposed to tell you seven random facts about me, so here we go!

1. Ik ben een enorme Harry Potterfan. Zowel de boeken als de films vind ik geweldig! Ik heb de boeken in het Nederlands en Engels in mijn boekenkast staan. Het schijnt dat de mensen om me heen een beetje gek van me worden als ik weer eens met mijn neus in een van de boeken zit..

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan! I just love the books and the films. I have the books in Dutch ánd in English. I've heard I drive the people around me mad when I'm reading one of the books again, cause I get sucked up in my own little world.

2. Mijn ouders zijn geen fan van nagellak, net als mijn zusje. Ze klagen continu over mijn nagellakken; de hoeveelheden, de kleuren, de geur (of 'stank', zoals ze het hier noemen). Het is mijn hobbie en daarom ga ik lekker door met lakken! Op verzoek lak ik mijn nagels voor het badkamerraam, dat wijd open staat. Ja, je hoort het goed; bij -10 zit Daph voor het open raam haar nagels te lakken! Diehard, he?

My parents and sister aren't fans of nail polish. They complain all the time over my polishes; the quantity, the colors and the smell (they usually tell me it stinks). It's my hobby so I'll keep doing my nails. On request of my parents and sister, I do my nails in the bathroom with the window wide open. Yes, you understand this correctly; when it's -10 C around here I'm sitting directly by the window to do my nails. Diehard, huh?!

3. Mijn lievelingskleuren zijn roze en paars, maar meestal bestaat mijn outfit uit minimaal één zwart kledingstuk.

My favorite colors are pink and purple, but usually my outfit exists of at least one black item.

4. Een tijdje geleden heb ik een tweede hobby gekregen: bakken! Ik bak muffins, koekjes, noem maar op. Voor mijn verjaardag heb ik niet minder dan 4 kookboeken gekregen en ook voor kerst kreeg ik een kookboek. Ik heb mijn eigen schort met mijn naam erop en de titel "de liefste zus".

A while ago I discovered I loved to do something else besides nail polish; baking! I bake muffins, cookies, you name it. For my birthday I got no less then 4 cooking books and for Christmas I got another one. I've got my own apron with my name on it and the title "The sweetest sister".

5. Ik ben dol op chocolade. De enige variant die ik niet lust is chocola met pinda's, maar verder maak je me eigenlijk overal blij mee!

I love chocolat! The only kind of chocolat I don't like it chocolat with peanuts in them, but besides that, you can make me happy with all kinds of chocolat.

6. Op dit moment kwakkel ik een beetje met mijn gezondheid. Ik heb de ziekte van Pfeiffer gehad en in november een aanrijding waardoor ik met rugklachten loop die steeds erger worden. Mijn favoriete sport kan ik daardoor niet meer uitoefenen: hardlopen.

I'm having problems with my health. I've been infected with the Epstein-Barr virus, more commonly known as Kissing Disease. This makes me very tired, since I have low energy levels. Concentration is very bad too. In November I had a car accident. Since then I'm experiencing backpains, which seem to be getting worse. Because of this I can't practice my favorite sport; running.

7. Mijn lievelingsdier is een pinguin. Ontzettend leuke beestjes met een grappig loopje!

My favorite animal is a penguin. They're very cute and their walking looks so funny!

Nu is het mijn beurt om mensen te taggen! Ik ben op zoek gegaan naar blogs die nog niet getagged waren, maar zonder geluk.. Helaas!

Unexpected Haul!

In december heb ik (na het kwijlen bij de diverse swatches die ik van deze lakken langs zag komen) een bestelling geplaatst. Ik was zo druk met allerlei andere dingen, dat ik helemaal vergeten was dat dit er nog aan zat te komen. Totdat de postbode voor de deur stond met een doosje nagellakken! Dat is een leuke verassing!

In December I ordered these polishes, since I was drooling all over the swatches of these that I saw online. I was so busy with other things that I almost forgot I ordered these, until the mailman was banging on my door with a package with polishes! Well, that ís a nice surprise!

In totaal had ik 12 lakken besteld en ik ben zeker niet ontevreden! Hierna volgen foto's per drie lakjes. Alle foto's zijn klikbaar voor een uitvergroting.

I ordered a total of 12 polishes, and I'm certainly not unhappy with my choices! Here are the polishes! All pictures are clickable.

OPI Kangarooby, Color Club Electronica, Misa Toxic Seduction

OPI Kangarooby is een dieprode cremelak. Deze lak is discontinued en dus wilde ik niet langer wachten met het bestellen ervan. Color Club Electronica is een donkerpaarse lak met roze en blauwe shimmer erin. Erg mooi! De kleur op de foto is niet accuraat (zoals met veel paarse lakken). Last but not least in dit rijtje is Misa Toxic Seduction. Dit is echt mooi! Een mossig groene lak met fijne shimmer. Ik kan niet wachten tot ik deze kan uitproberen!

OPI Kangarooby is a deep red creme. This polish is discontinued so I didn't want to wait any longer to order it, cause I was a little scared it would be sold out. Color Club Electronica is a dark purple with pink and blue shimmer in it. Very pretty! The color in the picture is not accurate (as it is with a lot of purple polishes). Last but not least in this picture is Misa Toxic Seduction. This one is VERY pretty! A mossy kind of green with fine shimmer. I can't wait to try this on my nails!

Emerald Depths, Tru Passion, Slow Jam

Emerald Depths is een blauwe, aquakleurige frosty lak. De kleur is erg intens, ben erg benieuwd hoe dit er op mijn nagels uitziet. True Passion is een paarse glitterlak. Paarse glitter! Yay! Ik ben gek op glitter, dus vond dat er wel eentje bij kon. Slow Jam is een bruine shimmer. Bruin zegt het niet helemaal, maar ik weet niet hoe ik de kleur beter kan beschrijven. In het flesje heeft de lak haast een rode ondertoon.

Emerald Depths is a blue, aquacolored frost. The color is very intense, I'm curious to see how this looks on my nails. Tru Passion is a purple glitter. Purple Glitter!! Yay!! Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a sucker for purples and glitters, especially when these two are combined. I love glitter, so I made this one fit in my order. Slow Jam is a brown shimmer. 'Brown' doesn't exactly describe it, but I don't know how I can explain the color. In the bottle it almost has a reddish undertone.

Wild and Willing, What a Drag, Wild at Heart

Wild and Willing is een bronzeachtige lak met een prachtige shimmer, waardoor het in het flesje al lijkt alsof de lak gloeit. What a Drag is een zilverkleurige lak die eruit ziet als aluminiumfolie. Beetje futuristisch wel! Als afsluiter van dit rijtje Wild at Heart, een intense paarse holo. Deze lak deed me echt bijna kwijlen toen ik hier swatches van zag. Dit is dan ook de favoriet tot nu toe!

Wild and Willing is a bronzy polish with a beatiful shimmer, which makes it look like it glows in the bottle. What a Drag is a silvery foil, which looks kind of futuristic to me! Last in this picture there's Wild at Heart. This one almost made me drool when I saw swatches because it's just so incredibly gorgeous. Purple holo! This is my favorite in this order.

Worth the Risque, Revvvolution, Fashion Addict

Deze lakken zijn alledrie holo en alledrie geweldig. Worth the Risque is een zilveren holo, niets meer en niets minder, maar wel een intense zilver. Revvvolution wordt ook wel een dupe van OPI My Private Jet genoemd, maar dan meer holo. Dit is zo gaaf. Tot slot Fashion Addict, een lichtroze/paarse holo. Ook deze is weer geweldig in het flesje, laat staan wanneer ze op de nagels zit en er licht op valt.

These polishes are all holo's and they're all great. Worth the Risque is a silvery holo, nothing more, nothing less, but it is a very intense silver. Revvvolution is named as a dupe for OPI My Private Jet, but with more holo effect in it. This is so cool! Last, but not least in the lineup of this "unexpected" haul is Fashion Addict, which is a light purple/pink holo. This one is already awesome in the bottle, let alone on the nails when light hits it.

These are my first Color Club polishes and I'm so excited!!

New Home for Polish

So I got myself a Helmer - a cabinet from IKEA with 6 drawers that's perfect for storing nail polishes. It took me almost 2 hours to assemble this thing, so no new pictures of polish today. This is the new home of my babies:



Tomorrow I'm going to put them in the drawers and sort them all out. It also gives me a chance to look at polishes I probably won't use so they will go onto the swap pile.

I really love reorganizing my stash, it's so much fun! So tell me; where to you keep your polishes? Have you got them sorted? If yes, in what way? Do you ever reorganize your stash?

The Gorgeous Nfu Oh 051

Nét voordat 2010 begon, kreeg ik de bestelde Nfu Oh lakken binnen die ik voor vier andere dames en mezelf heb besteld op www.fabuloustreet.com, binnen. Nfu Oh 51 was weer beschikbaar!

Just before 2010 started, I got the Nfu Oh polishes I ordered for four lovely ladies and myself. I ordered them at www.fabuloustreet.com because Nfu Oh 051 was in stock again!

Omdat ik 051 alleen een beetje zielig en alleen vond, heb ik wat gezelschap meebesteld zodat ze zich niet eenzaam hoeft te voelen.

Because I didn't want her to be lonely, I ordered her some company so she won't feel lonely.

Vandaag heb ik voor het eerst de lovely 51 opgedaan en ze is nog mooier dan ik verwacht had!! De foto's die online te zien zijn van haar doen haar kleur en flakies geen eer aan. De mijne overigens ook niet; ik kan het niet op beeld vastleggen hoe mooi ze is. Een donkerpaarse basis met daarin rode flakies, maar ze verandert ook van kleur naar groen, oranje en geel in het licht. Echt ge-wel-dig!

De foto's die ik nu post zijn deels pre-cleanup omdat ik graag foto's wilde maken van Nfu Oh 51 in daglicht en daarvoor moest ik een beetje opschieten. Morgen zal ik proberen mooiere foto's te maken, maar ik kon niet wachten om deze te posten.

Today I wore the lovely 51 for the first time and she is even prettier than I expected her to be! The pictures online just don't do her beauty justice. My pictures can't capture how pretty she is either. A dark purple base with red goldisch flakies, but she also shifts to other colors like green, orange and yellow in different lighting. It's amazing!

The pictures I'm posting right now are partly pre-cleanup because I wanted to take pictues in daylight, so I had to hurry a little bit. Tomorrow I will post better pictures of her because she deserves that, but I couldn't wait to post this.




Dit is één laagje Miss Sporty 313, donkerpaars met een lichtere paarse shimmer, en één laagje Nfu Oh 051. Nogmaals, mijn foto's laten niet zien hoe mooi ze in werkelijkheid is, maar het geeft je een impressie.

This is one coat of Miss Sporty 313, a dark blurple with a lighter purple shimmer, and one coat of Nfu Oh 51. Again, my pictures don't capture the beauty of this polish.

I really love this polish! It dries a bit slow, but the colors and flakies make up for that. The colors shift in different lighting and it makes my nails really fascinating to look at. I can't stop staring at my nails..
